Middle-Earth: Lord of the Mods (Private Beta I)

Well Stormrage, of course what you want to do is your choice, but those change-logs can't really tell you anything. They each address a specific point of the MOD. The reason I released them is more for historical reasons. If you're playing LotM's public beta in a few weeks, then the logs might indeed prove very insightful. You might even get some ideas reading it.

A more realistic update would be to show you guys what we're working on now. In fact, as I'm writing this I will be proposing an updated missile line for the Elves. It won't vary too much from the image below, but it will add some units that aren't currently being used. Right now, it looks like the Roman Archer will be getting nixed. In addition, the Noldor UU (top right hand corner) will also get nixed.
The Elves are a unique circumstance, as they graphically degrade in terms of armor. They also increase in shield cost in the latter eras.

I'm sort of curious; do you think there is enough interest in LotM for a Private Beta II thread to stay afloat? I have been keeping to my own lately, and don't really have a good feel about what's current in a post-civ4 mod-player community.

Eeeeexcellent! :goodjob:
Thanks for the kind posting PCHighway. I eagerly await the release of the public beta. And as to your 'thread support' question, I have to say (from watching the Warhammer mod thread) that Stormrage alone could support a thread. He even argues with himself sometimes....

Cheers,

Michael

In and of itself, I don't think it would make much difference posting a second private beta thread or not. I'm mean, without anyone from the private beta team posting regular updates, what would it be good for? If someone wanted an update, they might as well just ask in this first thread. Well, that's my take on it anyway.

I agree.

And, yeah, and also concerning the lack of some quality South african beers, I think Utahjazz7 could make a unit or two for this mod. :p

Edit: I just saw your new units... and now I`m reading this post of mine... and my People coming back thread.... and now I`m crying... :thanx:

*SIGH*

So here I am, nearly two months later, fulfilling the obligatory role of the ignoramus. Have you all converted to Civ 4 yet? Will there ever be a Civ 3 LOTM release? Or at least a public beta?

Cheers folks,

Michael

I had the same concern, and I'm on the frickin' dev team (or whatever it's called)! Thankfully we've just heard from our overworked biq editor guy, PCHighway, today, and apparently he's still hard at work on the mod. So at least the project's not dead.

Well, on the units side of things, I've been shrinking and recoloring units to be used as dwarves and hobbits. Right now I'm trying to get some crebain/crows to do what I want them to.

PCH is trying to assemble everything perfectly, although we have had 10 playable betas. I'll let him spill the details if he wants to (mainly because I'm unsure of them as well.)

Thanks for responding ... I think it is important to keep us all periodically informed :yup:

... and you never know, it could generate unexpected assistance from those not in the loop :goodjob:

I'm glad the mod still has some life left in it. I know people probably want the Mod to be perfect, but'd I'd settle for pretty good if it meant it got released soon! I hope I don't sound like I'm nagging, I'm breathless with anticipation.

No reason why you couldn't beta test (no reason why a whole lot more folk couldn't beta test), so far as I can see. The original batch of beta-testers (myself included) seem to beta-test less and less these days. Or at least, not many new bug reports have been showing up in the threads...

Also, there are fewer and fewer bugs that we do not know about...we have had 10 beta versions, you know.
