Middle-Earth: Lord of the Mods (Private Beta I)

Not exactly, there was discussion on it for a long time (not pre-PTW, though). Work on a tangible .biq (yes .biq, not .bix) never began until a couple months after C3C released.

Why do you torture us with that picture? It looks so good.
Well, that's the whole point, isn't it? :crazyeye:

The history of Civ? I think this is the biggest communal project in the history of computing...
I absolutely agree. :crazyeye:
Surely you exaggerate!

WeaselOp, I never noticed this before, but can anything be done about the "hot purple" typeface?

That's only on his computer, everyone else should have black text, as usual. Don't play around with your fonts without adult supervision, kids! :nono:

Oh, that's a relief! ;)

So, uh, is the new AFI album any good?

Awesome, Olorin, I didn't realise you had managed to get it to work so that the graphical ring locations corresponded with the geographical locations of the stages of the quest! I like how the path shows up so nicely in red, too. Although the lime green "complete" for each stage of the quest is unfortunate. Hopefully that's a result similar to WeaselOp's hot purple!

Well, depends on whether or not you're into punk. I assume so, seeing as how you reference the Dead Kennedy's in your "location." It's really hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that there are philosophical, exotic camouflage clothed, Tolkien, hunt-loving, punk Canadian fanatics out there :).
If you liked their latest album, Sing the Sorrow, you'd like December Underground. If you prefer their earlier albums, you won't like it as much.

I haven't played with my font colors... the problem is either with my computer or with my copy of Civ3.
I really do think it's your copy of Civ3 :). At least, the current install.

For those who enjoy the "tripping" being done by various members of the mod team, I have no visual goodies to contribute at this time but I would like to report that the mod's private forum is ACTIVE again for the first time in, what, four months? It is very heartening, this activity. The omens are good. Maybe I'll post the really good civpedia entry I wrote once.

It's funny, I don't like the earlier albums because they remind me too much of 90s punk, which I never liked. My brudder in law says the new AFI rocks, so that plus what you've said makes me think I will like the new album very much. I really liked Sing the Sorrow because, I dunno, it was more prog or hardcore or wierd or I dunno what. I'm woefully out of date with the current descriptors for musical categories. When I was a young 'un I was more into death metal and shred which, somewhat ironically, served as a segue into a deep love for baroque pipe organ and Russian choral music. Though I'm entirely oblivious to the current music scene, my buddies have provided me with some mixes and what not and I very much enjoy bands like dredg, In Flames, Isis, Misery Signals etc. Can't say I've ever listened to a Dead Kennedy's song in my entire life! (I wondered what you were talking about with "DK" earlier; Denmark? :D) The "über alles" reference comes from the banned (because it's racist) first verse of the German national anthem. I've appropriated it, tounge-in-cheek style, for my location, because I guess I have a warped sense of humour...

Well, the first verse of the German anthem is neither banned nor it is racist! It is till the German national anthem, although only the third verse is sung it is still the anthem. Also it was written in 1841 on (the then British) island of Helgoland. In this time Germany was departed in over 30 states. So it only (more or less) means having one unified Germany in the area of the German Federation, although it was misinterpreted and misused. However because it was not political correct in 1949 there was a compromise only to sing the 3rd verse. However the whole Deutschlandlied is still the anthem.
