Hello chickens, rather than have a life I sit around modding BTS. Frequently I plug in units that appear in - game with missing bodies, scary enough but annoying. So after a rather irritating 'arabian musketman' I came up with this fella. It is really a reskin of Bakuel's <<<MesoMusketman>>. I cut off his topknot and poked out his earplugs (ouch!). Initially I cut the whole head as well (bit of a mistake that, but if you need a 'headless musketeer' for a gothick mod it's easily manufactured). A quick bodge bit of colour on the <<archer_128>> and <<mayaproto>> .dds files and there you go.
I've taken a screenshot but annoyingly the zoom on my mouse has gone! Cheap bit of tat it is. So I've also taken a picture of the nifscope rendering of the figure too, in which some of the white is actually teamcolour.
Adding this unit is easiest in BTS, there's good tutorials available. Essentially you add a new entry to theCiv4ArtDefinesUnit file, which tells your computer where to find the files and then point to this new entry by making a new entry in the Civ4UnitArtStyles file, BUT copy the originals first as, if you're like me, you make a real pig's ear of the XML code, so you can go back to the originals if you need to.
There's a great little prog available from this site called 'civchecker' which runs a check on your art file references (after a bit of tweaking), an error in which tends to end your 18 - hour marathon gaming sessions horribly. Yes, I really don't have a life.
Hope it's useful. Finally, thanks to all the contributors to this site, who have provided me with hours of pointless, nerdy entertainment, and a big hand to Bakuel, who is a lovely unitmaker.
Now I will attempt to upload the files . . .
