Man am I glad I found this forum :) Hopefully y'all can help me out on a couple things....sorry if this is a repeat :)
Okay, I love the game, BUT it has me utterly frustrated at this point.
Once I have won, it shows me the "rank" for population, pollution, land mass etc. I've been able to get (most the time) high ranks for most everything (not all in one game...still practicing LOL) BUT...I can never seem to get the "Military Service" rank to go past 1 year.
As well, I can't seem to get the "Family size" up very much either (I'm assuming that "life expectancy" doesn't effect this as I've been able to get #1 in "Life expectancy" yet very low ranks in "family size")
VERY FRUSTRATING...can anyone tell me how I can "up" these stats PRETTY PLEASE?

I think Family Size is how fast your population grows. Just a guess though. As for military service.. I have no clue.

Family size is based on the amount of excess foods your cities produce; it's meant to be an indicator of how fast your population is growing.

However, at least in Vanilla and PTW the algorithm is so poorly constructed that even with pretty rapid growth does it say "1 children", which of course implies demographic collapse.

Military service depends on how many military units you have in relation to your population. The AI always has pointless amount of troops garrisonning unthreatened cities, so having a low military service ranking is no need for worry.

I know there's a thread somewhere with the exact formulas, but I can't recall where, exactly.

Thank you for your quick reply's...I knew I was going to love this board :)
Being a "warmonger" I usually have quite a few military units, but at the same time, my population is quite high....so must need more (NOT! I usually have more than I "need" to begin with LOL)
As for the rapid growth...I thought I grew fairly quickly...guess I should work on that LOL
Thanks again though...gives me something to really look at in the future.

not even quantity but proportionate.

Also, to see these demograpics, hit f11 and not have to wait to win or lose.

Actually I would say that they copied algorithm from Civ2 and since in civ2 popluation growth worked differently, it eneded up giving a little bit strage resluts in Civ3.
