I'm going to have to upgrade practically everything apart from harddisk and monitor to run this game. My current system predates Civ3 so it's going to be a major overhaul.
Sadly, I'm on an extremely tight budget so I can't just go for a new state of the art machine. I was thinking with graphics... Apart from Civ4 and Rome Total War I don't plan on running any intensive games in that area. Would it be worth it to get a motherboard with just AGP slot rather than a PCI-e slot? If I get an older one I can cut down the price and the Leadtek WinFast A6200 TDH (GeForce 6200) that I'm looking at is a AGP card.
Also, any recommendations to motherboard and CPU? I don't need anything excessive, so am thinking of something like a Celeron D330 or maybe ADM 2600+. That way I should be able to upgrade everything for about 300-350 US$. Just a pity I don't live in the states where it would be cheaper
I might eventually get Age of Empires 3 as well, but as long as Civ4 and R:TW will run, then that's the most important. Any good suggestions as to how to get a system capable of that cheaply? I could build it myself, but hasn't done something like that in a decade, so...
So, with my needs is it worth it to just get a AGP slot?
What board/CPU would you recommend?
At least getting 1GB is much more straightforward
