Minimum system requirements problem after 1.09

I have been playing Civ 4 for 3 weeks now with no problem. All graphics options are set to high and none of the options to the left is clicked (basically, the graphics are set at the best they can be).

I install the patch. Start Civ 4 and get a message that says something like "Minimum system requirements not met, Civ won't run with current hardware settings." That might not be an exact quote.

I go into options and now all of the graphics options are set to low and the options to the left areall checked. I uncheck them and restart the game like it sasy to do. The same message pops up and all the options are reset to low.

Anyone else having this problem?

im getting that too :( tomorrow when i can bring up the system specs im going to email them.

in the .ini file, set
[CONFIG]
; Don't show minimum specification warnings
HideMinSpecWarning = 0
to = 1
should fix the problem.

Thanks, I'll try that. Will that just solve the message being displayed or will it also solve the graphics settings getting reset too?

itll stop them from being reset... but i found that it caused the game to perform worse if you didnt keep with their suggestion...

Hey thanks. I tried it and it really works. :goodjob:
It just didn't make any sense that it would work before with my configuration and not now.

Thanks AsnoT.

I have the same problem. However, where do I find the .ini file to modify?

In the alternative, is there a way to uninstall the patch, without re-installing the program from scratch?

Haven't tried this myself yet (started a game after I uninstalled the patch) so I can't say whether it works. The ini file is in My Documents/My Games/ Civilization IV.

Thanks a lot. That seems to solve all of the problems. No error message and am able to increase the graphics options above low.

There is a shortcut in the %installpath%\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 folder that will open up the .ini file, "_Civ4Config" shortcut.

The .ini file is in My Documents/My Games/ Sid Meier's Civilization IV. In the root for that sub-directory, double click on CivilizationIV. That will open the file. Then scroll down to the line that says [CONFIG].

See AsnoT's post above for the correction that needs to be made.

Start a new thread and be specific with all of the steps you have taken and the problems that result. Someone else may be able to help you.

I get the same message, but I can start the game, no problem. Every time I open Civ4 it goes through the intro movies and before it brings up the option screen I get the "System does not meet minimum requirements: Game will not run under these conditions" (or whatever) message.

But then I start a game and everything is fine (but slow)

I'm running a:

P4 2.4 GHz
512MB
Intel Extreme2 on-board card (with up to 32MB devoted to graphics)

I think its the lack of a video card that's slowing the game down. That's my christmas bonus purchase: a nice video card.
