Civ VII PC system requirements are now available!

Yeah, I figure if there's a linux-compatible version it's normally not too bad to get it running on any other unix-based OS!

By the way, how do you think my computer will fair for 7?
My Computer Specs

NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 1060 6BG

Intel Core i5-7600 CPU @ 3.50 Hz

15.93 GB RAM
I have pretty similar setup, the main difference is processor being i3, but one generation newer (meaning generally the same computation power as it has the same number of cores and their speed as i5-7600). It should be fine, just not the top graphics.

I think my main concern is what I play from HDD, which could cause some slow loading.

Hi all! New here as this will be my first Civ! I'm hoping my PC can run it on Medium settings, but if not I'll get it on PS5. I've had a look at the recommendations but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

My specs are:

- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

- AMD Ryzen 5 1600x Six-Core Processor @ 3.60 GHz

- 32gb RAM

- Windows 10

-329gb remaining local disk space.

Thank you in advance!

This setup is slightly above the minimum specs., but does not reach the recommended specs.
So it should run.

The graphics card is around minimum specs, the rest is higher.
Also here, it should run.

Thank you! What do you think would happen if I tried to run on Medium with this graphics card?

Hard to say with your setup. The CPU has the recommended specs, you have the maximum recommended RAM, and the description on the first page go from minimum graphical setup to high graphical setup between the minimum to the recommended specs... so... I really can't say, will be a dice roll if it's kinda smooth (because enough data can be shoveled into the RAM), or if the graphics card is really the bottle neck for the medium settings and it will stutter bad enough :/.

Thank you very much for this! Would I be able to tell if it's an issue within 2 hours of gameplay, do you think? That way I could refund from Steam and get the PS5 version if I need to. But I worry that the problems may not become apparent until later in the game?

mmhh... since the limitation is the graphics card, you should be able to get a feeling about that when you have a really full screen with lots of units and buildings. If it runs then then, then it should also run fine in the late game, I would think.

The turns will still get slower in the late game, but I don't think the limitation is then the graphics card.

Please note that we're an independent gaming forum, and do not have insights into what's happening at Firaxis. So no deep insights from my side.

Got it, thank you! And of course, I know that, no worries. :)

Sorry, one follow-up question: is it possible to change the graphics settings in the late game to make it work better? And turn off animations etc?

Hello Civ Fans - I have looked over my speck's on my laptop which is a Surface Pro Studio. The speed overall for Civ 6 is exceptionally fast for me while playing on Huge maps with 10 plus civs. My laptop has the RTX 3050 TI graphics card it's not the 4020? which is the high end on specks. Yet if it works fast for a huge game on Civ6 then I am sure it will work just fine on Civ 7. I am looking over fellow fans talking about Intel I3 and I5 chips and not sweating if Civ7 will be enjoyable or not. I have an Intel I7 - 11th Gen. 32 gig ram and a SSD. Can't wait for Thursday February 6th !!!!

That should be more than enough as I understand it.

It just blows my mind that a Civ game requires anything other than very basic graphics capabilities.
I do not understand. Minimum requirements which this game runs equals very basic graphic capabilities. So this game does not require anything more.

Hi,

If I have below config:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz
8,00 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 8,00 GB RAM

will the game be playable, on standard map?

Playing each civ and each each dlc, since civ1 on 4 disks.
Thank you for answer.

Probably not?

I think so. The CPU and RAM meets minimum requirements. Your GPU has 8GB VRAM, and is roughly the same performance as the required GTX 1050. I think you would run low/medium settings at 30fps.

If you buy from Steam, you can just try it out for bit and get a refund if it is no good.
