MiniNES1: Revolution in Fedelista

February 1804

In Ibana, the New Federalista movement decides to become more agressive. After a brief gunfight costing 1 riffleman and 2 voulenteers, key goverment officials are captured and held for ransom. Their families quickly pay a ransom of 4000 credits, and the New Federalista army quickly brought martial law over Ibana. The populace is too scared to do much, and the streets are left to the rebels and those few brave souls who pick up weapons and join them. Marshall Espaco equips them with good weapons, and the New Federalista army is now perhaps adequatly supplied to fend off an attack by the goverment. Good thing too. A general by the name of Lopez has been sent to a fort a few miles away from Ibana. There, 350 Fedelista rifflemen train, awaiting his arrival, which should come by the end of February. Everyone knows that the moment Lopez arrives, the little army will march onto Ibana to restore order, and everyne is looking at Espaco for what to do.

In San Peppera, one of the local pepper-farmers, El Volum decides to give the new revolutionary spirit a whirl. He quickly gathers 100 followers, and begins spreading fliers throughout the rich city. He gains 200 followers, all of which he equops with riffles, but he also gains enemies. A rival plantation owner by the name of Papuachi is gathering a small force of 200 or so men to take out the "traitors".

Meanwhile, the Fedelista Liberation Organization slowly becomes more active. Preaching in the countryside brings about 100 more voulenteers. Some of the more loyal members pledge some credits, and Cristobal gains 3000 credits, which he quickly spends on 10 cannons and 300 rifflemen. Having done this, he sends scouts to investigate the armory to the South. It is guarded by a company of 30 rifflemen or so, but contains many useful supplies.

Back in Fedelista City, el presidente Juan Vargas is already most upset that some people are trying to overthrow his rule, when the worst news to date comes. 2 groups have started open revolts in the Isle of Vargas (hunbly named after el-presidente himself). In the city of Aha, a faction calling themselves the freedom legion quickly gathers 10 cannons, 200 rifflemen, and 100 dragoons. They tried to quietly spread their influence in Aha, but they recieved such overwhelming support that they effectively became masters of half the town. In response, Juan Vargas has sent 3 frigates loaded with soldiers towards Aha. Maybe of some help, the legion finds many explosives and several fishing boats in Aha harbor.

Even worse slightly to the North, an old war-verenan, Admiral Lopez takes over most of San San harbor. He captures an entire 2 Fedelistan vessels, an unprecented steal! On top of all this he has gathered a small professional army and has begun to raid the main city, on the hill overlooking San San harbor. A recent raid on the customs office has given the rebels 5000 credits. But this should be over fairly quickly. Up in fort San San, 200 rifflemen get ready to get rid of the rebel menace.

From el Presidente Juan Vargas
To New Federalista

Espaco you fool! We used to be war buddies, and look how you now betray me! If you surrender now I'll only lock up 2 generations of your family.

The time for timidness was not at hand. Marshall Espaco had to deal with the Federalista garrison. To do this he gathered an army big enough to capture the fort. Back in the capital, Ibana the construction of the Senate neared completion. Many qaurels had to do with the Federalista army and they were decided by the cunning marshall. The marshall thought it best to win the peoples of and around Ibana by a grand public parade of his new army. Many turned up that would not have supported the New Federalista government before, and at a speech infront of the crowd the general announced his plans to begin construction of better roads and schools for the town of Ibana. The crowd cheered at the prospect of a better government.

ORDERS:
Buy 20 Batteries (-4000 credits)
Buy 100 Dragoons (-2000 credits)
Build up infrastructure of Ibana and charge taxes on properties, income and sales.
After parading through the city send the entire army to surround the fort. Set up camp out of range of their cannons.

To Generalisimo Lopez,

We would like to thank you for coming to see the might of New Federalista. Would you like to surrender now or be crushed soon?

OOC: Admiral Diego "Serpiente del Mar" López Pacheco Cabrera is my leader name, hence, he is Admiral Cabrera, not Lopez.

My mistake. I'll correct it later, and it will be Cabrera in future updates :)

comeon now, I definelty need more than 1 order. Update either tomorrow or the day after.

The armory was going to be taken easily. The weak federal guard was no match for the superior forces of the FLO.

ORDERS:
Assault armory with 200 riflemen and all cannons.
Continue propoganda speeches througout the countryside promoting socialism, especially to the peseants.
Get loyal members to pledge more money to support the cause.
Buy 1000 Dragoons and 100 Riflemen

To Admiral Cabera (not sure of spelling):
I suggest we take half of this isle named after the evil president of Federelista so we do not come into struggle between each other.
Let's get rid of "El Presidente" before we get rid of each other.

Secret PS: Maybe we even can take 1 half of Federalista each...

Orders:
Load the fishing ships with explosives, let loyal men send the boats into the frigates.
If the "bomb" trick don't work, use rest of the explosives be thrown at the soldiers when they arrive at the beaches.
Also place cannons on stratigal points in the harbor ready to blow the frigates into the afterlife.
Use 200 volouters 50 riflemens and 50 dragons to raid governmental buildings and rob them, also search after secret plans from the president.
Send out more flyers.

A new leader, Francisco Dela Vega, emerged from the fog of rebellion. Pledging a land of excellent people and plenty of freedom, he made many speeches to the people. This rallied some soldiers ready to serve for God and the Holy Empire. As a pastor of a cathedral not far from here, he is loved in his hometown. He has a large plantation near his church and a boom in the pepper market leads to a surge of riches for the good man. He hates the corrupt government and wishes to overthrow it. But the time has not yet come. Francisco Dela Vega needs to keep the movement a secret by meeting in old underground sewers and dark alleys. A local landlord, Patrick Amori, gets suspicious of Francisco Dela Vega. He thinks that he might be staging a rebellion against the government of Fedelista. He has in his mind to tell the government about Francisco Dela Vega. But Francisco finds out. He offers Patrick Amori 1,000 credits in exchange for not revealing his secret, and another 2,000 credits in exchange for his land. Hopefully, Patrick will come to his senses and take the money. Maybe he will even become smart enough to join Francisco's new movement.

- Try to bribe Patrick Amori :mischief:
- Buy 100 Dragoons and 200 Riflemen :soldier:
- Make sermons and speeches to convince the people that joining the Holy Empire is good and right. Try to tell the citizens of Encore that the Holy Empire is the Word of God. :)
- Try to keep the movement secret. Meet in the underground taverns and sewers underneath Encore. :hmm:

BTW, sorry about the lateness. I recently won my first game on Warlord so I was addicted to Civ for a few days.

LA ARMADA DEL PIRATA

To: La Legión de la Libertad
From: La Armada del Pirata

Agreed, you stay on your half, I shall stay on mine.

Admiral Diego López Pacheco Cabrera

Orders:
Recruit 200 Dragoons, 10 Cannons
Attack and Loot Fort San San with 400 Dragoons, 10 Cannons

El Volum knew that he needed to get rid og his enemies before he made a hq in San Peppera.
He realised that he also needed more men in his army.
This new treat had to be removed fast.

Orders:
Use 2000 gold to recruit more men to the army.
Attack my rival, launch the attack early in the morning just after the sun is upp.

March, 1804

Civil war is now fully underway. In the city of Ibana, the populace is split among those who are accepting rebel rule, and the slight majority who are fleeing with all their possesions to Fedelista city. After a brief parade, the whole army is sent to the fort outside of Ibana where el Presidente was said to have sent a general. By a stroke of luck however, general Lopez hadn't arrived yet. Rebel cannons opened fire on the leaderless fort and killed many. When it was all said and done, 140 Fedelista rifflemen deserted their cause and joined the New Federalista ranks. The other two hundred or so were burried outside the fort. On the way back, a bit more teritorry is annexed. Upon his return to Ibana, the general finds that his gold has increased significantly. Back in Fedelista City, el Presidente is busy conducting drills on about 2000 rifflemen.

To the East near the coast, the Fedelista Liberation Organization attempts an assault on an armory guarded by 30 Fedelista rifflemen. After a brief gunfight, the casualties were 20 Fedelista rifflemen, and 30 FLO voulenteers. In revenge, the FLO kill the remaining 10 Fedelistans. Still the price is perhaps worth it, as the FLO has gained 30 batteries for free, and equipped about 50 of it's voulenteers with riffles. There are rumors that el presidente will send an expeditionary force of 500 dragoons to see what's going on.

Meanwhile, much is going on in rugged Aha city. As soon as the goverment's three frigates are in sight, the rebels send boats loaded with explosives at them. At the price of 10 men, the rebels sink one frigate, the explosion of which rocks the entire harbor. Meanwhile, rebel cannons start operating and another frigate is badly damaged and forced to go back to Fedelista City for repairs. The one frigate which survived however let 1000 rifflemen out of it's holdings, and they quickly occupied the harbor. In the blood bath that ensued, 230 soldiers lost their lives, compared to 200 rebels. The rebels are now greatly outnumbered, but a recent surge of voulenteers has helped the problem somewhat. The choices are clear. Either resort to urban warfare or run into the jungles and await your enemies move.

Across the island, La Armada Del Pirata is having slightly better luck. Admiral Cabrera gathers even more men and attacks fort San San. After a bitter struggle costing him 170 dragoons, he takes over the fort. Inside he finds 10,000 credits! For a whole day the people celebrate their victory. The next mornign however, they begin to make graves for the dead. Cabrera's strategists say that the next logical step would be to recruit more men and take out the tiny towns dispersed throughout the islands. Either that or help out that fool on the other side of the island.

Deeper inland, Francisco DelaVega tries to keep his movement, and succeeds. He even manages to convince a suspicious local land lord to join his cuase... at a price. in return, Amori, gives Francisco his land and contributes 200 of his own men. He also suggests to Francisco that they build up thier military till they can attack a fort several kilometers away. It was manned by only 400 rifflemen, but more importantly, it had batteries! If they could capture that fort however... they would control the whole province. Meanwhile, the peppers market continues to do well, and Francisco gains much money, only losing a small amount from his weapons purchases.

And finally, in San Peppera El Volum brings his movement up a few notches. A very bloody battle occures between him and loyalist Papuachi, in which both sides suffer heavy losses. However in the end, El Volum is the new king of San Peppera. It's rich pepper fields ensure that he loses no money from his military spending.

Of importance to all, is the re-opening of the border with Alariqua, the rich little neighboring democracy which had closed it's borders to Fedelista ever since the goverment turned corrupt. Many wonder if this action has anything to do with the recent rebellions...

To New Federalista

We offer you once last chance to cesae your rebellion. In return you'd only be imprisioned for life, as opposed to being fed to the sharks. If you refuse... well... your end is coming is soon enough.

From Alariqua goverment
To el Presidente Juan Vargas

But Senior Vargas... you seem to have some problems of your own you should be worrying about, no? If you get them under control, we'll give you a loan. If your country continues to be torn apart by rebels, well then I'm afraid I won't be able to do anything save for sit and watch.
