i just love this corporation. it can consume many types of resources, and fairly common resources too. in my game it was giving each city 26 hammers while costing about 9 gold. the cost is mostly made back in the headquaters city, which gets 5 gold magnified by market, grocer, bank, and wall street. it's also the first corporation available, so it's possible to spread it to many cities before competing corporations could spawn. but the best thing about mining inc. is that it is the best counter to spy sabotage. the spy could poison the city to 1 pop and the city would still be churning out production  26 hammers become 52 after forge, factory and power plant.

best corporation IMO

I don't really like the mining corporation to much, because it competes with three other corporations. I will admit it is one of the strongest. Sadly it does need a great engineer and that's one of the hardest Great Person for me to get.

I personally really like Sid's Sushi Co. It only needs a Great Merchant, which is very doable if you have a coastal city with The Colossus, The Great Lighthouse and possibly the Temple of Artemis. It boosts your food and culture intensively and therefore is great for improving food poor cities. I found it really fit my personal playing style and my civ of choice (the Dutch) very well.

I also love Sid's Sushi Company because it is easy to get extra fish resources, it's an easy technology to get to, and it's also pretty easy to get a great merchant.

And in response to sneaky: you don't need any of those wonders, just work merchant specialists... If you don;t have the right buildings, use caste system...

Sure, I could do that, but I'm a Slavery freak. I love the whip.
And when I'm playing the Dutch, I often aim for those wonders anyway, because they have a natural synergy with the Dutch uu, ub and traits.

26 hammers? How big was your empire?

I did the same thing in my first game and mining corp. was amazing. However I decided for the 2nd game to go for creative corps.

The reason was that with mining corp, you may only have 2 corporations per city, but if you get creative constructions then you can get 3 corporations per city.

great engineers are not always that hard, i remember once by the 1800s i had 4 waiting for pentagon corps and other wonders in one city, just build the right ones and they will spawn :)

great engineers are not always that hard
I still find them the most difficult one to get.

Mainly because up until factories you can only ever hire max 1 engineer - whereas u can get unlimited artists, merchants, scientists and prophets can also go much higher than 1 specialist but also that prophets are limited in their use past the first few.

I had Sid's Sushi and Mining Inc. in my last game. They're both awesome. Sid's Sushi allows for a lot of food, with which you can work mines or run engineers. Add Mining Inc. raw hammer bonus and presto! Even my commerce city was churning out tanks and space ship parts like crazy in the end (well, the levee helped tremendously as well).

I find sushi a hard one. In BTS health and :) become a major (and I mean major) issue and I end up having to rely heavily on foreign trade to be able to keep things borderline stable if that, and once a single war breaks or a deal is canceled I'm gonna get lots of sick people.

That's certainly in favour of Sid's Sushi at least as far as health is concerned since Medicine gives you more health and more food combats unhealthiness to some extent. Besides, it might be a good idea to focus this corporation on cities you want to grow fast as the benefit might be bigger than a few extra specialists on the more mature cities.

I've only made two corporations so far, the Mining and the Aluminum. My last game required the aluminum one because I had none. One of my stupid vassals had aluminum but he put a windmill on it. I couldn't demand it from him and he never bothered mining it.

Even when I had the aluminum company I only put it in one city for space ship production. The mining company with general hammers proved more efficient for everything else.

I like the mining company. I only put it in the top three production cities and then send it abroad. I ended up with great production and serious money coming in. The AI spammed the hell out of it for me. They spread it to almost all of their cities making me very rich.

I didn't spread Sid's Sushi Co to cities that were already very much grown, but mostly to cities that were food poor or that still had a very high health/happiness cap. The corporation is great to boost those cities.

The strange part is that I did gift him assembly line and then industrialism which reveals the aluminum. He still had the windmill on it. I got tired of waiting and founded the aluminum company, maybe he did eventually get around to it, I honestly didn't look back after waiting in frustration for a while. Maybe I need to be more patient with my vassals...
