Ministry of Defense: WAR!

But, because of our ruleset, I guess he can't do that, since "move those troops there!" wouldn't be a legal instruction anymore... And I guess, according to you and Cyc, he would be "lazy" because he can't tell where the Bab troops will come from. I would sure hate to see the CCs fly because Mure was in an impossible place to defend properly...

Two comments on this CT - then I'm done.

First - instructions can be given by the MoD in a general manner, stating the objectives to be covered. Example: "If the Babs bring a large attack force, bring all non-essential troops to defend as you best determine. Should a counter-attack opportunity present itself, you may use up to X units." Example 2 (later in the war): "Begin Operation Culture THIS! on turn 1. Move units as indicated in image A, and attack cities Z and Y. Assign 2 spearmen as defense for captured cities if successful. Once 5 Swordsmen are healed, and no significant Bab counterattack is visible, begin Phase 2. If significant counterattack is visible or suspected, delay phase 2."

The instructions give specific instructions when needed, but focus on the goals, not the how. THAT'S how instructions should be done in situations like this.

Second - stop complaining and figure out how to change the laws if you don't like it. If you don't like it, try to fix it. As much as I dislike his ideas, I respect Strider a great deal because he has tried to change things he didn't like. Here's a free hint: Try a sub-clause under Section I of the CoL. Limit it to allowing minor adjustments and responding to unforeseen circumstances and you'll have a chance of it passing.

Here's a tactic. Leave a city in our desert (furthest away from Babylon) completely undefended. The Babs will aim for that city, in which we can pick them off as they enter our territory.
That is an excellent idea I like very much. It need not even be a remote city. Why not just move the spear out of Vandelay. Some of our troops "hide" on the western bank of the river to keep the Babylonians on the grassland to be attacked by our swords and horsemen.

I would suggest to combine it with my recommendations given above.

Question to those who have the save - any idea where the Bab units are congregated right now? In other words - where is their push going to come from?

Check the SCREENSHOTS! thread.

I believe the full offensive will hit Santa Lucia, and Mure is to be a target as well. I think we should pull out of mure, then ambush them when they enter it to set up a deliberate killing ground for them to waste troops as they probably have Bowmen there. On the main front, we will have to do a fighting retreat, ill pln it soon.

Concerning fear of a CC, well... This is why I supported making a looser ruleset.
