Not sure if this is a "bug" exactly, but something that needs addressing nevertheless. The combat penalty for crossing rivers do not show in the odds calculation when you move more than one square.
Now, if I manually move the rifleman one tile north, then attack from across the river, the appropriate combat penalty WILL show. And the penalty DOES apply when dragging as shown in the picture, even if it doesn't show in the odds. This is especially devious since the game chooses this north-northeast route for attacking (I guess it does so because it fails to recognize the combat penalty involved?), when northeast-north is obviously superior (it's in fact the difference between victory and defeat in this particular battle - I tried both paths).
But wait, it gets even stranger.
If I instead choose a knight for the fight, the chosen attack route is actually the "correct" one.
But when I release the button, the knight attacks across the river anyway!
And, like the rifleman, loses - exactly because he doesn't attack directly from the south, without the combat penalty.
I have noticed this before, that units sometimes do not move according to the shown path (I can't tell if rivers were involved those times too). Very devious indeed!
