Miscellaneous Graphics

I will probably just post what I'm using, a modded 1280x768 size screen. Goldfool made the city screen background and buttons, and I modded that to facilitate the additional luxuries and smaller pollution.

I was hoping Goldfool was going to do some of the other screens as well, I guess I will pick up the task.

I started to make some of the other screens 1280x768: I've made the victory conditions screen and the histograph screen into widescreen (see preview below), the pattern of lines you see in the preview doesn't appear in the game, they just show because I shrunk the picture, they look like the default pattern in game.

Notice how the game automatically shifted the contents of the windows 128 pixels to the left as the larger widescreen starts 128 pixels further left. This works so far for the three screens I'm showing in the preview.

There's room to add some pictures or something on the right side for those who like some flare.

I will post them all a one download when I finish all the widescreens that will work, including the cityicons.pcx and cityscreen buttons.pcx.

Can you make me the `generic` 1024x768 versions as well ?

Edit: I forgot to mention that you should probably use Goldfool's cityMgmtButtons.pcx if you are using the widescreen version, the arrows are made to work with the widescreen city screen.

Here you go. Both versions include the cityicons.pcx and the background.pcx

This is the original background with the line taken out and a copy of cityicons with the small pollution icon (more to the required corner).

You still have to in the labels.txt file replace the word pollution with a space (leave the space there).

Additional Notes:
If you are adding/deleting any resources to be or not be luxury, you may have to modify your luxuryicons_small.pcx (not included in the download because everyones mod will be different), those are the icons that display in the luxury area of the screen.

btw ,I just have to think that your work deserve it to be in the DB. So uploading it there makes sense. ;)
 
Here is the template for the larger size cities (752x570) that some have started to make, thought I would post it here before it got lost as I had only posted it as a response on another thread.

I already used this, from the post you had on some other thread :)

You should include a version just for the walled city though.

Also in the other pic you had it indexed to 256 colours. Perhaps leaving it as a true colour png would serve better, since the palette will be altered anyway prior to its use ;)
 
Pounder, didn't comment it April, but now must say THANK YOU! for the larger size cities template! Yesterday I struggled a bit with small size cities spreadsheet and didn't understand why it's necessary to re-size cities, was it made intentionally.

So 2 questions: the game reads cities gfx cell by cell and cells should be of different colors? So the cell size doesn't matter?

For the city and city walls files only it seems:

1) The Game will take any proportionally sized city or city wall file and divide it into 12 and 4 cells respectively.

2) There does seem to be a point were if the city size is too big, then the cities around the outside of the screen will not be displayed in game (they will pop up as you scroll across), that problem doesn't happen with this larger city size (752x570), this size works fine.

3) When Goldfool made the original regular sized template, he used alternating cell colours so you could see the boundaries of each cell.
