My PTW v1.27f is crashing when I try to build a Anda Swordsman. I downloaded and installed the fix listed above but it still crashes when I try to build one.

Moderator Action: PM me with a competent description of your game software and the problem and I will attempt to determine if the problem is with the game or not. - cracker

I am completed frustrated with the tech paks-- one file not found after another-- what the heck is the ottoman_crest_all.pcx??????????I have downloaded all the paks as nauseum--- searched all my files on my computer and it is nowhere to be found!Help from anyone please.

Moderator Action: Maqabee, I honestly believe that your problem here may be a self inflicted head wound from a failure to to read the Readme.txt file that was included in the zip folder with your save game.

Also posting cries for help without indicating the version of the software that you are playing has absolutely no value and demonstrates a fundamental lack of recognition that we have 9 different versions of the game out and available just to make sure that we try and not inconvenience anyone.

Just PM me and be patient. Most issues are quickly resolved if you just answer the basic questions that we need to figure out who you are and what you are doing. - cracker

Before cracker turns you into a Steppe Settler and send you west towards that barbcamp unescorted, perhaps you should PM him of your findings :)

I finally learnt to be patient and will wait a day or two before I play this game. There will be a couple of typos and errors and when they are sorted out and then I can play. I'm actually working on a big report instead of playing now :)

Do I get a gold star now, cracker?

I don't have a gold star handy,
so how about a few piles of gold coins as a reward for your good behavior:

Hi

I get another crash that i havent been able to fix myself, crashline:

file not found

"art\units\Gospodar\=../Horseman/HorsemanDeath.flc"

:/

I have had to close this thread to require that you send me a PM instead of just randomly posting error codes.

The problem is that the users who are doing this are not following the basic instructions.

Send me a Private Message and include the version of the software you are playing plus the exact name of the zip folder that you downloaded to play the game.

Most of the error messages so far have been duplicates of things we think are fixed or where actually addressed in teh readme that came with the game.

Posting messages of a crash without indicating the version of the software you are playing and name of the save game zip folder that you are using ends up only casuing confusion and has absolutely no value.

I'll reopen this thread after this flurry of not following instructions passes.

Loaded GOM #25, but keep getting error file not found: Art\Advisors\Dal-Riada_advisor.pcx.

I had no problems with prior GOM's. The setup file loads correctly. What went wrong.

Thanks

Eric

You are still getting this because you do not have the Pediaicons.txt file installed properly.

Either you did not read and follow the instructions in the Readme file that was given to you from the very start -or- you may have placed the updated pediaicons.txt file in the wrong folder.

If you have a standard installation on your hard drive, the updated pediaicons.txt file should be positioned in the folder named:

C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Copy of CIV3PTW\Scenarios\gotm25\text

This corrected Pediaicons.txt file does not contain the text string "arabs_all" anywhere in the file so receiving the error message that you show is a clear red flag of not following the instructions that were included in the readme.txt file.
----------------------------------------------

The more remote alternative explanation is that you may be playing in Civ3v1.29 and do not have the free Arabs Civ installed.

---------------------------------------------

Either way, it would have been significantly easier to answer your question if your provided an indication of the software version that your were attempting to play. Without this information we have to try and rad your mind to guess what your are doing and this produces lots of what if possibilities. - cracker

Cracker after I access the civilopedia. I press T to jump down to the turgaut horseman entry and I get this error. I'm pretty sure I've got all the downloads and I've implemented the fixes. While I haven't seen any volcanoes in this game- I've had them in previous games. PTW 1.27f.

Moderator Action: Samildanach,

1) You cannot be getting this error if you have the game packs installed properly.

2) This clearly has nothing to do with the Typo fixes for the Anda Swordsman and/or Gosposdar.

3) You should have PM'd me with this issue so I can ask you some more specific questions to sort out why you would have a crash that would not be effecting other games.

Please help me solve these problems quickly without creating needless spin off cobfusion by following my primary request to send me a Private Message with these issues.
