I was hoping that at some point I'd get some response, but, as of right now, the main Civ 2 GOTM Staff member has dropped out of sight.

The biggest issue is that this staff member was the one who was pulling down the Civ 2 GOTM saves that people sent in. So, that means that I have no ones saved games for GOTM 77, 79, 80, 81, and 82. :(

My thoughts are these:
If anyone happens to have your saves from those games and can resend them then at least I can try to rebuild some sort of results for them. If you played the game but don't have the saves, then I guess people can replay the game and resubmit (everyone can replay if they feel like it I guess).

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Combining the notes I have and the resent games:

GOTM 77:
Show games originally received from:
Ace - Game resubmitted
Freakmon
Magic_Gorter - Game resubmitted
CharlieChuck - Game resubmitted
Capt_ML
OldnSlow

GOTM 79:
Show games originally received from:
Kenobi
Magic_Gorter
CharlieChuck - Game resubmitted
Dinamo - Game resubmitted
OldnSlow (incomplete?)
Uruwashi

GOTM 80:
Games Received from:
Peaster
charliechuck
Dinamo

GOTM 81:
Games Received from:
Peaster
Ali Ardavan
charliechuck

GOTM 82:
Games Received from:
Dinamo
Mercurios
Ali Ardavan

I assume our emails to CFC were not saved or backed up, so there's no e-solution ?

Well, it's not really a problem for me - I can resend the saves. But who is the missing Staff member ? Smash ? I don't know him, but there's always a chance someone else might be able to track him down ....

I have all my outgoing messages to CFC saved. So I can send them too. I will get to that later tonight.

If you played the game but don't have the saves, then I guess people can replay the game and resubmit (everyone can replay if they feel like it I guess).

I've resent 80 and 81. I didn't play the GOTM in which everyone went for landing (82, I think). I'm slightly tempted to go back and try to land too, if that is allowed. Is there a deadline ? Any objections ?

I got a new pc mid december, so far haven't been able to get Civ2 to work properly on it (though I haven't tried that hard). I'll see if I can find my old saves, I put almost all of my documents on various discs. It would be a shame to have missing results after getting to over 7 years of games.

Unfortunatly , my PC crashed in December. I had almost finished game 83 ( 7 Islands )... since all saves were on my hard drive. All information was lost since I had to re-install windows and all my information was deleted.
I remember playing some of those games, but from now on I will keep my games saved to a floppy. I rarely have time to finish a game on time, so trying to replay 77- 79 - 80 - 81 and 82 will be a bit too much.
Is it a deadline to submit some of those games ?
I just submited game 85.
I want to keep updated with the current GOTM , and again I have not even peek at game 86.

I've just sent 80 & 81, can't find 82 zip file, but I've got civ2 working now so I'll go through all the old saves and find it.

I've just resent GOTM 79,80 and 82. These are the ones I mange to play, and I don't think it's fair to play the others. Duke could you give a sign if you received them? Thank you and have fun with the game.
PS
I've recently acquired C3C and almost all my gaming time is going towards it, but I still find time to play a quick Civ2 game. Hope you guys understand me ;)

I finally received a response by email, but IMO this should be public knowledge. Enjoy your next GOTM, knowing that the moderator may change the rules at any moment - and not tell you.

"For the missing GOTM games I was entertaining the idea of letting people play the game who had not originally played it in hopes of boosting the
number of results. Only one game came in as a result of that (which sounds to be yours). The initial trepidation, with the couple 'complaints' I got
about letting people replay games after the fact, and that it didn't even come close to the desired results led me to leave out the game.

So, yes, I did receive it, but, no, it won't be included as originally thought. You can always use it as another comparison game like you did for
the GOTM 16 one you played."
