Moai Statues

The only problem I have with putting Moai in FC is that it's a frikkin' mile away from our front lines.

FC may be the best overall candidate, but wouldn't it be more useful in a city closer to Kaz where we can use it to pump out a navy that can be put to use in less than 10t?

If we built Moai in GM, it would be built by something like t132 at the earliest, and GM would be size 4 with 12 food in the box and with the lighthouse and rganary. It would have generated 216 commerce from gold (everything else would be identical).

If it grew using the coastal tiles it would have generated closer to 500 commerce by that point and be around size 8. Around that time I'd expect to be drafting from the eastern cities to stave off a Cav invasion from carricks. Kaz we can pressure enough from DT and Angle to make them keep most of their units in their west instead of trying to boat us. Ultimately, FC is, what, 6 turns by caravel from GM? The difference is that FC is going to be able to mass produce caravels and EIM alot faster than Gm ever could (and Sb is also a solid production city that shoudl be able to provide boats and siege units to protect that area).

I agree It is easier to keep our "core" (expect to see a MM thread from Krill) running smoothly feeding outwards.

Core Cities are:
IS
CK
JD
FC

Why didn't we consider IS for Moai? 7 good tiles isn't great, but on the other hand, right now the cap kicks out hammers - can build it in 10 turns or so after the Lighthouse is done AND continue to grow fast.

IS is the best candidate we have for the HE, and hence West Point later in the game. If we put Moai there, to gain the 7 hpt (around 5-10 turns faster than at FC), we only really gain that short period, then lose compared to Moai in FC in the long run, and lose again when/if we get to West Point.

I'm not complaining or anything, just curious, do you and Memphus do a lot of strategy discussion off of the forum? I've been part of the team from before the team was even named, but some of the stuff you've had part of our general strategy wasn't really discussed. I'm certainly not complaining, our strategy certainly seems to be working so far ;)

We do chat alot but any descisions are always posted here (forum) for discussion. We would put up chat logs, but there is alot of non-allowed language ;)

As for the general strategy (non-discussed) please call us on it! we need to explain better then. Or give opportunites to fight it out! more conversation is always better than less.

Imagine a chat log split over 3 posts, with every fifth word blanked out, posted 6 days a week.

In it every little detail that could probably be discussed, is discussed, from minor MM, to parts of chats where I'll help Memphus by giving a second opinion on what they said and what he could say. He also plays some pretty mean jokes (worst one was when he said F*** F*** F*** right after attacking Paris with Waterstof, the bastard). Alot of it isn't that interesting.

Alot of strategy isn't discussed anymore, over the past 10 turns it's been mostly tactical moves around Angle. That's why the NCDP was put up, Moai etc. The strategy for the next 50 turns hasn't been discussed anywhere.

Previously (ie after the first 30 turns of the game) alot of strategy was discussed, but most of it was paring down inefficient and bad MM. I suppose the best way to imagine it is day to day running of an office, and now the office has reached the end of the setup phase and needs to start oing the job properly.

Alright, that's cool. I was curious, a reason I enjoy doing the mtdg is because I've learned a lot on how to play the game properly. I took a pretty long break on civ4 before I came back to it during the mtdg, so this has helped recover and get a lot better at playing. :)

I hope this works...Columns on the left refer to growing while building Moai, columns on the right refer to building Maoi then growing. A much better version of this is in the gmail account under the title "FC growth patterns"
