I would like to play a game where I compete close to 1:1 with the AI. I have beaten the AI on all levels including Deity, but on the highest level I missed e.g. religion it was too much war.
Then I start experimenting with mods and now I really enjoy the game.

I love the philosophy behind AI+:
- Stick almost entirely to changes that only impact the AI without impacting the larger game.
- No changes to the AI difficulty bonuses
- Improve the AI's ability to win without using cheesy strategies that reduce game enjoyment, such as all players declaring war on the player the moment they meet him.
- Maintain and improve upon the 'flavor' of the AI through distinct personalities and playstyles.

I use the following mods:
CQUI-master
AI+
AI Siege help

I suggest starting on Emperor.

If you have not tried this, I recommend you to do so! If you have a suggestion to add more mods to the list I am excited to see your suggestion.

I use AI+, AI Siege Help, TCS's Omnibus mod (complete edition also removes the resource hurdle for AI to upgrade units as you can now always build them/promote to them and just have reduced strength without the resource) and some minor game-enhancing stuff like Larger Worlds (exactly what it says), Detailed Worlds (better maps) and City Name Generator (creates city names based on their surroundings and districts). Also, I am thinking about installing CQUI, but I haven't decided yet.
