[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

You know I was playing the other day as the Grigori, and was caught up in a very heated war with the Syivatar (sp?). Anyways I was doing alright when the Lanuan sirprised me, and took out most of my coastal resources. That has me thinking. Why can't the adventurers upgrade into ships?

Its not a bad idea, except that then the grigori could challenge the lanun for dominance of the seas. And ships aren't living units. Anyways you can upgrade your adventurers to mages and have them fireball the enemy ships.

Had to delete all the old scenarios that were in my list for FfH2, so i started all over, just put an updated scenario for 2016 effective 31 Dec 06, just in time for the New Year, so "Just Have Fun."

Dont know about the first one. If you are casting "Wall of Stone" the the walls are only temporary and will dissapeat.

Though, it is one of those spells retained so long as the caster remains in the city, yes? Like Hope, Inspiration, etc. Either that or I've finally lost my marbles, 'cause I could'a sworn my caster couldn't cast it again after dropping it on a city that he subsequently remained in.

Anyway, I feel all mentally dusty on FFH things, I got seduced by Medieval 2 - Total War for a while. But I got lonely not playing FFH with my pals, so back I am! :goodjob:

Cheers!

I supose your right. I may just be a land lubber, but in any game I played I'd be lucky to have a ship reach level six. A ship that gained levels just sitting there would be pretty powerful.

Happy New Year!
Any chance that we will soon get some info about Fire? (Perhaps as a New Year present ;))

Sorry, not yet. Good things are coming, I promise.

IMHO, you should put a full list of credits in the game:

I noticed many tracks from games most people don't play now because they are too old (but I do:crazyeye: ). Order track 1 is from Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor (location it is played is Celeste). Order track 2 is from Disciples 2: Dark Prophecy (location it is played is the main menu). Leaf track 3 is from HOMM IV (location it is played are sea spaces). Leaf track 5 is also from Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor (location it is played is Nighon). Octopus Tack is, once again, from MMVII: For Blood and Honor (location it is played is the Pit). Veil Track 11 is, one more time, from MMVII: For Blood and Honor (location it is played is Evermorn Isle; man, do you like MMVII:D !). Dude, even Veil Track 12 is from MMVII (I think its the Barrows)! You've also got another Disciples 2 battle track in Veil track 13 (o/t one of my favorite battle tracks o/t). Ditto Veil track 14. However, I haven't seen "MMVII" or "Disciples 2" in the credits anywhere. There are also some tracks from Civ3 and Civ2 Test of Time (Sci-Fi). I bet more of you have recognized other tracks from other unmentioned games. Please, for the sake of all of us, correct the credits!!!

Yes, or we'll, we'll.... we'll.... we'll INFORM somebody. Yeah. Somebody who does care and will come and book you. You know. We'll play without sound! Or not at all. Ha.

There actually isnt any tracks from HOMM that I know of (I love both series). The tracks I believe you are refering to are from Eclipse, composed by Rich Douglas (and used with permission).

I know they sound very similiar and I thought the same thing the first thing I heard them, I went back and played the origional HOMM tracks looking for matches but couldn't find any.

I did learn 2 things in checking. 1: that they weren't the same, and 2: I cant use real HOMM music because whenever I hear it I just want to go play HOMM again (I loved HOMM3!).

But there are a few M&M songs, tracks 11 and 12 from the veil are from M&M7 (as you mentioned). Fellowship track 5 is from M&M7, Overlords track 14 is from M&M7, Order track 1 is from M&M7.

I bet your right about the Disciples, I actually dont have a record of where those tracks came from. Weird cause I usually track all of that. I'll add the M&M and Disciples to the credits.

Let me know if you find matches for the songs you thought were HOMM, you obviously have a very good ear, but I searched for the same and I was unable to find it. Leaf track 3 for example I know is ECTheGlade from Eclipse, but if its also a track from HOMM I would like to know.

There is one, the Lanun's second hero, the Black Wind.

The Grigori don't get anything like that, becasue then we'd have to allow warriors to upgrade to boats for everyone, or else give the Grigori a unique naval line, and atm there are other things on the list.

Something strange about inquisition.

I executed it in more then 10 my cities in last game and never get unrest after it (from some cities were removed 3-4 religious at once) .

I've checked code - it seems like unrest must be every time...

P.S. Played by Balseraph with Octopus.

Kael and team, I know that it takes a long time to code things so have you ever thought about posting what you want to get done on the forums and letting others help do the work? You could say what you wanted done kind of like an assaignment and surely some of many people that post will help. This would help the mod get done faster.

We use the community when we can and they have been awesome. They have contributed a ton of pedia entries as well as playtest feedback. Not to mention individual members that have contributed units, ideas, or code.

But unfortunatly its not as simple as a list of things to do. Everything effects everything else. So we do design work on an aspect, implement, release a version, playtest, change another aspect, etc etc. Its not that structured but we iterate quickly.

When we have a specific task that someone can help with I dont hesitate to ask. AlazkanAssassin does a great job with unit models and has been tons of help with FfH, Teg Navanis has done some custom coding for us and has been excellent as well.

So I won't hesitate to ask for help. But right now we need to do our design and first pass implmentation. When we are ready to release a playtest version of "Fire" we will list things the community can help with (along with the most important of just providing feedback and telling us what works, and what doesnt).

what file do i put the download in to make it work?

You'll probably need to change the path it defaults to install to when you use it, though, as I doubt the folder entitled Program Files on English and American systems is called the same on German ones (It's called "Programmer" in Denmark, for example).

intresting.... Seems like a bug.

Pirates can attack Hunters in the coastal cities :)
Only hunters, may be other recon units, but not archers...

After such attack there is a little glitch - unit is drawn on the sea, but really located in the city.

I may have come a bit late to the party, but it is I hope not too late to say how much I am enjoying the two Fall from Heaven mods.

Many thanks to all of you on the team for ploughing on, and for being so disciplined in your approach to the mod. The latter is more impressive even than the excellent background writing, graphics and balance.

Its never to late. "Light" is only the first of the 4 phases planned for FfH2, so we still have a lot more to do.
