I was about to add my fist mod to the game, after finlly determining the game, as installed, was running well and after allowing some time to play test, and encountered a folder naming conundrum.

Some of the treads I have read state to install the mod in the ...My Game/Sid Meiers Civilization4/... folder.

When I installed the orginal game, my version created a folder called ...My Game/Civilization4/... with several folders nested therein, without the Sid Meiers portion. BTW... I have the European version.

So my question is this, is the folder I have the one I should use and disregard the "Sid Meiers" portion?

I did try installing one of the mods and it created the Sid Meiers Civilization4 folder but the mod does not run and I believe it is because the folder name is not recognized.

...tis a puzzlement!

The best way to make sure you know exactly what the game is loading is to ignore any My Games folders and instead work directly in the program directory. This would usually be C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods

Did you remove the Sid Meier's from the directory name when installing? This might carry over to the my games folder.

Willowmound: Thank you for your kind understanding. I won't bother you with any issue again.

go to the main installation folder and check where does the symbolic link to /mods lead. That's where you need to put the mods.

Btw what they tried to tell you is that you probably changed the name of installation folder DURING installation. Normally the folder is called Sid Meier's Civilization 4, but if you chose to install in Civilization 4 then the MyGames "puzzle" is quite simply solved...
