I have an idea which could completely change the way people play MP in the No Quitters group.
Specifically, I want to change the combat to turn-based, while keeping the Simultaneous setting and the turn timer.
To accomplish this idea, I need a simple mod which will alert the players (with a sound and/or pop-up) when half the turn timer passes.
Explanation of why this mod is needed:
Currently, combat in NQ games is Simultaneous. At the beginning of each turn, there is lag that gives players with better internet connection a significant advantage.
Certain players constantly get first moves over their opponents, allowing them to kill low hp units, save their own units or even take a city before their opponent can even make a move.
First move is so unfair that in many cases it is the deciding factor of who wins the war.
The built in solution for making MP combat turn-based is the Hybrid setting, but it just takes too much time.
The solution I came up with is to split the turns between players in war - players spend half of their turn moving their military, and the other half managing their empire. (For a more detailed explanation click here)
But for this to work there needs to be a notification when half of the turn passes.
Can anyone here create this mod? Any help is appreciated!
(I hope this mod could be installed like the Enhanced User Interface mod)
P.S. - I also have an idea of a more complicated mod that would actually prevent players from moving their units on the opponent's half of the turn, but that is probably much more difficult to make and unnecessary.
