Make it so planted forests slowly turn into old growth forests as time passes, maybe depending on game speed if possible but would allow planting->cutting but with delays
Good idea, a couple thousand years would probably be enough to turn a planted forest into something similar to an old growth.

Sorry for the sarcasm but Old Growth forests are not that easily replaced. They are a treasure that once dilapidated is gone for good.
If possible, making "new plantations" and "mature plantations" in addition to Old Growth would be valid because really a planted forest can give you as much usable wood as a prime one. Those "mature plantations" wouldn't increase the plot appeal for National Parks but if you want to plant, wait 20 turns, cut, why not. It wouldn't be as exploitable as cutting just planted forests.
Not sure how you would do this thought. Without dll access, it would at least require lua scripting and we still haven't identified all the API calls.
