Wait a minute, Firaxis let Ken go because he doesn't have a degree? Because of a technicality? That's....an outrage! Who knows more about what a game needs than Ken? Sounds like Ken put a little f..f..fear into the wrong person, eh?

So Ken doesn't have the skills for their next project. I bet that means it's gonna be another goofy console game.

The whole degree thing kinda touches a nerve with me. I sent a resume to Firaxis once and in the education part I had to write 'None'. I figured that would shock them into remembering me. Ah well, at least I got a nice computer out of them.

Great episode as always! :goodjob:

I was sorry to hear about Ken leaving Firaxis too. But working on even just one project for a large game developer like that has got to look good on the resume for future job searches. ;)

It's fun to hear something about my unit !

By the way, even if you have said it in the podcast, you forget to write in your post that Refar also deserve credit for the Devourer. He mades the anim, and without him, this unit would never be in civ.

thanks for the posting dan :goodjob:
Welcome.

Blame Tony :yup::D.

Opening post updated. :)

It's good to see this is still going strong.

Sup Tony? :)

@Shqype
whats up with you brotha :)
im really glad that the show is having some measure of success.

@C.Roland
Thanks for bringing that up. I never meant any disrespect to Refar with that omission. it has more to do with how tired i was when i wrote the episode template :D

You guys should really have Blake on sometime if he'd agree to it. I'm interested to hear his perspective on AI development, and what he thought of fireaxis's decision to hire him, and use his code in an official expansion pack.

I'm sure you have your own ideas and all with modcast, but as a listener of it, I wanted to throw in my two cents.

well then i will have to get around to asking him onto the show :)

Tony, your memory has failed you. :mischief:

phungus420, in that episode of MC Blake touches upon all the points you raised IIRC -- certainly at least the third and part of the second.

Well sh!t man, it was the 13th episode, that's just unlucky. I just avoided that episode.

You didn't give any props to Wolf's American seals on the newest Zerver set, thought they were very pretty, and should have gotten a mention too.

EDIT: Nevermind

You guys never talk to Blake, I probably did listen to it, cool episode, like always with Mod Cast though. But seriously, never got to hear anything about the AI of strategy games, let alone his version of BTS AI. So in conclusion, episode 13 did not go into the AI, and it definately never talked to the creater of the improved BTS AI about AI. If you can, get Blake on the show to talk about AI programming...

I still hold what I say before, and I say that the person that said you interviewed them before is being a dusche, because you never talked to Blake about anything related to why he'd be on Modcast. It's like you had Chuggi on and talked to them about Revolution code, it's just not pertanent to what the modder does.

You guys did a good job interviewing Allen though on the Fury Road mod, would have been cool to hear Refar on that one too though. Also Refar is my hero, would have never gotten into modding if it wasn't for him giving help, like he does all the time.

And it seems to me from that ModCast Blake simply isn't really the talkative type. Could be wrong though.

Come on, phungus420, why did you resort to name calling? :rolleyes: That's not constructive criticism at all.

When you referred to Firaxis hiring Blake and using his code in an official expansion pack, I thought you were referring to Civilization IV: Colonization not Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword given that is the more recent title. In addition, I qualified my response as "IIRC" ("If I Recall Correctly") -- I was going primarily by the summary of the episode he was on.

Our education system no longer emphasizes principles like politeness and tact or even spelling in some cases, so in phungus420 language, what he meant to say by 'duche' was that you were 'mistaken'. It's hard to be certain, but my guess is that there was no insult intended.

I just wanted to clarify what might be merely a cultural misunderstanding.
