Oops with a unfinished beta in modcast . Thanks for mentioning my small project.

Must say i also liked Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, think it was the best part of the serie, also liked MechCommander (but only played the first part). Hope that the animation problem can be solved in near future and the model be finished and perhaps than i will make my other favourite design the warhammer and than there are only 10 to 20 models missing for a mod

How do you record voices on a computer without getting a stupid humming or "background noises" ruining everything?

Simply plugging a mic into my soundcard, and stuffing towels/blankets and pillows around my computer didn't seem to do anything for my sound recording!

As quiet as my house has ever been (I did this when everyone was gone... no kids, no tv, no dogs, no wife), I made a recording and still heard a very pronounced "humming" in the background of my voice recording.

What's the secret?

well the secret is simple: noise removal. it also helps to make sure your ceiling fan is turned off high mode, and anything else.
but even after all this, i usually have to use noise removal. my computer is an alienware and has at least a half dozen fans

when you record with audacity just go to the effects menu and use noise removal, by selecting an area with just the hum or noise (but no voice) then press "get noise profile"

then select the whole feed and use noise removal again, this time press "remove noise". works wonders

No... I'm honestly trying to figure out how to record my own voice without hearing stupid humming in the background of the recording... I figured somebody that does podcasts all the time would probably know.

Thanks for the tip... I'll give it a try with Audacity (never used it before).

yeah its your best bet. also remember to get the newest beta version. it has crash recovery and improved noise removal.

I haven't forgotten my promise to upgrade my B52 Garret, what do you think? It now has about 900 polys versus 2,200 on the old one.

I'm not sure what I would do in a modcast... would this be some sort of conspiracy to rip the Wolf a new one? I hope you don't expect me to stick-up for McCain, because I won't really defend that guy either.

What in the world would I talk about? You must be desperate for guest appearances!

I haven't forgotten my promise to upgrade my B52 Garret, what do you think? It now has about 900 polys versus 2,200 on the old one.

It's only considered an "upgrade" if you actually let folks use it in their games, rather then tease the hell out of us with pictures that just make us drool instead of inserting them into our games.
