The only problem I have is the actual sniper. Maybe you could request that someone make a sniper model.

Am I correct to assume that you are making this comment in regards to the latest screenshot? If you then I'll explain, the unit that you are seeing in the screenshot is the early sniper from ~1800's. There is another sniper unit, modern sniper, that looks different.

But why must this sniper be alone? Could be some of them working together. Then they could take out larger gropes.

No I mean why Belizan says it cant kill a compleate unit. But why should the sniper only be one man in that unit. It could be many more snipint out the other unit.


From the screenshot. What good does it do to kill an artist? Lower population by one? Or what happens?
 
You are correct that snipers cannot kill off entire units. But they can kill off the individual entities within the unit. After enough rounds the sniper could kill off an entire unit, if it isn't found first :D.


Well as configured right now yes, killing off an artist will lower the population but that can be turned off. But you can also kill off the super specialists.
 
Wowee! This means you've obviously done what most people have stayed away from: allow a unit to select the target it attacks! Great job, TheLopez! :D

I can't wait to test this mod out! (And I promise I'll test it more thoroughly than the Mercenaries Mod :p)

*clapping* simply wonderful, this will be great in a Command & Conquer mod I'm in the planning phases of. :D

Next to the Mercenaries Mod this one is the coolest mod concept I've seen yet.. and since you obviously don't have enough projects on your plate.. any chance this will be worked into the Merc Mod at some point..? ;>
 
In what way would you see the sniper mod fitting into the merc mod?

The merc mod treats all units the same. So if someone were to combine the two mods then when the appropriate techs get researched / eras are reached then snipers would automatically start being generated as mercenaries.

Also, one of the things I am trying to do is to make the sniper mod generic so all you have to do is create a unit that uses the combat type UNITCOMBAT_SNIPER to enable them to use the new sniper functionality, which is basically just XML editing, no python editing required.
 
This mod looks pretty sweet, can't wait for it to come out
