Hello all, this is my first post. I'm considering buying Civ4. I hope you guys can answer some of my questions in that regard.
First, how well will it run on my machine? I'm using a laptop with a 2ghz processor, 512megs of ram and an ATI mobility radeon 9000 gfx card. It runs HL2 very well on medium-high settings. I'm pretty sure the game itself will run fine but i've heard reports that the map editor requires much more juice (running sluggish on even high end machines), and I wouldn't want to buy the game if my ability to make maps/mods was severly inhibited. Would my rig handle the map editor?
Second, there are some strange rules in the vanilla game that i would like to edit out. For instance:
1. no nuking friendly units (why not BTW?)
2. unbreakable UN agreements (in RL a nation can just leave the UN, or ignore the provisions.
Can it be done?
3. Can you add new units and buildings, and techs, without adding any new graphics?
4. Can you add infinite amounts of new stuff or must something be "switched over" like in Civ3? Say, you cant add Photography as a tech from scratch but have to turn Music Theory into it.
Thanks! Looking forward to playing this game!
