Does anyone know about a "modern world" scenario? In Civ2, there were several modern world scenarios availabe for download, starting in the 1990'ies.

Interesting scenarios would be the cold war (starting at 1960-1990), post cold war (starting at 1990-2000) or a scenario simulating the current world situation.

I found this type of scenarios very cool in Civ2, along with the WWII scenarios

I believe people are already working on these scenarios. Making scenario will not be as easy in Civ2 as there are no cheat menu in Civ3.:( Luckily for us there are people like Gramphos and Eric Tan who are already in the process of making those tools

Another problem with creating scenarios for Civ3 is those animated units files which at the moment is still a pain to create. The scenario will be coming for sure but at a slower pace. But then again, this game is hardly 2 months old!!

I'm happy that there are people out there that are creating new, cool scenarios. It makes the game twice as fun. Keep up the good work folks! :goodjob:

I used to create scenarios for Civ2 (some of them are out there) and just 2 months ago I created my ultimate masterpiece. It was a modern scenario starting in 2001 and with the maximum number of civs allowed. The idea was to simulate the real world, which I did by editing the tech-tree slightly and add lots of new modern units. The nicest thing was that I used the correct number of units for each country in the entire world (!). I have data for the year 2000, which is close enough and just had to make a reasonable conversion to civ2. The world today is more militailized than ever before, which shows in this scenario; major countries have really huge armies to begin with (without reaching unplayable numbers). Apparently, the AI hates being a neighboor to other powerful nations and war usually started almost immediately regardless of diplomatic settings. Thus, the AI changed this modern day simulation to World War III :-)

I am telling this since I still have all the new graphics (scanned and edited), unit amounts and values, which I can use in Civ3 when possible. I do plan on redoing this Scenario for Civ3 when time and the possibilities exist. When playing it in Civ 2, I can tell you that it was one of the most intense gaming experiences ever and I belive it will be even greater for Civ3 with the increased possibilities. :king:
