Mods will not load

I never had any problem with this before, but now when I use BTS "advanced" and "load a mod" the program just exits to desktop with no message irregardless of which mod I specify. I had the same happen with civ:colonization yesterday. Does anyone have a possible explanation? I must have done something unusual.

I was able to work around this by rebooting. I don't no what caused the strange behaviour, but it must have been somewhere else in my system.
