[MODULE] Patria

Well, without knowing more of the lore you planned it is hard to help.

Is this civ supposed to be Patria revived, a remnant of Patria that was better preserved than the rest, or the ancient civilization itself. What exactly is Fallen Ages?

Although Kylorin was the Emperor, he was also the rebel, not his students. They were for the most part adhering to the (highly corrupt) laws of Patria.

My first thought when I saw the second leaderhead was that it was a younger Os-Gabella. Although her current pedia mentions her armor, elsewhere she is spoken of as wearing robes instead. Frankly it does not make much sense for her to ever wear armor, considering that she cannot be injured and did not seem at all bothered by pain when she allowed herself to be stabbed in the heart. The way the buildings seem to bend behind her would make more sense for someone who bends the fabric of space and may have just teleported herself into the picture.

My conjecture as to the Patrian Civil War battle lines:

Air – Greysun - probably not the most evil archmage, but I see no reason to think he sided with Kylorin.

Body – Kezef - almost certainly opposed Kylorin, this sphere revels in wielding power over the weak and maintaining corrupt hierarchies

Chaos – Carnivean - likely a wild card, with no real loyalties other than a love of destruction, likely fought but switched sides repeatedly

Creation – Majen (elven) - a likely ally of the rebellion or , as there sphere is generally benevolent, would oppose the destruction of late Patria, and is inclined to support the new over the old rule

Death – Barbatos - definitely opposed Kylorin, may have been killed by him several times and risen again before the old emperor decided just to imprison him

Dimensional – Os-Gabella - the original disciple of Ceridwen would not betray her for any man, and could not have been defeated

Earth – Jenkin - I very vaguely remember this player character from Kael's D&D campigns being a good friend of Trenton Majosi, so I'd guess either siding with Kylorin or trying to stay neutral

Enchantment – Velgyr - as this sphere is opposed to Ceridwen and Kylorin came to serve its mistress Nantosuelta, this is a likely ally

Entropy – Asmoday - probably the least likely supporter of good Kylorin. I could see him either committing suicide when he heard of the rebellion or being Kylorin's first victim in the war, and then perhaps returning to rejoin the battle as a powerful demon

Fire – Mikel Dylantyr - quite possibly Kylorin's greatest ally in the rebellion, his power may have grown ten times greater when fueled by righteous indignation rather then wickedness

Force – Paimon - probably stuck with the majority opinion of opposing Kylorin's rebellion, or viewed the contract with Ceridwen as immutable

Ice – Badb - as ice is inclined to fear change, he liked opposed the rebellion

Law – Soqed Hozi - almost certainly supported the corrupt laws of Patria rather than the man who wrote them

Life – Leucetios - probably did not side with Kylorin's rebellion, and might not have had any power by that time anyway; the abomination of life magic in that age were so great that Arawn withdrew from the word specifically to stop this magic from working. (Barbatos could draw power from the Opalus Mortis which Tuoni stole from Agares, but the gem of life was never captured by mankind.) He could still have commanded armies of monsters he had designed in his youth though.

Metamagic – Gastrius - definitely opposed Kylorin and was vanquished (or at lest wants us t remember it that way ;) )

Mind – Perpentach - definitely stayed evil, probably the de facto emperor after the rebellion. It is known that he dominated the minds of many of Kylorin's friends, which I tend to think would include at least one or two of Kylorin's good students.

Nature – Herve - probably stayed evil, his sphere is inclined to accept the gradual evolution of Patria's corruption but not the rapid revolution Kylorin then started

Shadow – Wode - probably stayed evil, although he may have tried to appear otherwise

Spirit – Laroth - had no part in the war, as he sensed Kylorin's change of heart before he did and fled before any conflict started

Sun – Tamesis - with no real basis, I'd say he stayed evil

Water – Trenton Majosi - probably sided with Kylorin, maybe stayed out of the war

This is meant to be the ancient civilization itself, Fallen Ages is like RFC for RifE, with the ages of Magic, Ice, Rebirth and the (if I recall correctly, non-canon) Age of Despair.

Yeah, I know that, about his suicide and Ceridwen whispering to him, giving him eternal life and stuff :)

That's interesting, I may use this picture for her then, and find another one :)

Interesting, some I'd have thought of being on Kylorin's side, just because he's the good guy, but he was probably seen as betraying them when he started the rebellion, and many of the students probably didn't even know that Patria was corrupt.

As this is for a Mod (mostly) set in the past, I think that you can afford to be Overpowered, at least for the period that you'll play it. However, that Overpoweredness can only be kept up by following certain civics, which diminish the 'stability rating' of the civ over time. Said 'stability rating' and happiness should be high at first, but slowly fall in order to reflect Patria's corruption. The army should be 'living' versions of the SoP forces, with a very strong snergery (don't know if I spelled that right) with the Arcane Line. Their canonical devotion to Ceridwen should unlock unique Dimensional spells and Priest - like units (The Emyrs, which MC said in another thread was more vile than the AV would be in the Age of Rebirth).

Conversely, they should be weak when using Fire Mana, and Arcane Units using Fire Spells (and Mikel Dylantyr, should he be a unit) could have a chance of being damaged when casting. When the option to rebel appears in the game, this should be undone: Fire can now be used normally. If the Pre-Fall Bhallite religion is present in the game, then converting to it is also an option. However, I would greatly perfer for Kyrolin's faction to retain the ability to create Priest-like units, just themed after Nantosuelta instead of Ceridwen. After all, it was the Pre-Fall Bannor who prioritized Bhall, and they were formed in the aftermath of Kyrolin's rebellion. The unique Dimensional spells should also go kaput, and be replaced with unique Enchantment spells instead.

Played a game with the Patrians as is current version. Patrians color is same as the Sheaim. Not cool. Founded a city next to them and the cultural borders "merged" couldn't tell by looking who's territory was who's. It would tell you by popup, "Do you want to start a war? " though.

Looking forward to how the Patrians turn out.

The sign there is that you should have killed the Sheaim

Yeah, that's a problem, but the Sheaim won't be in the game at the same time as Patria in Fallen Ages :)
