I think they lumped the Mongols in with the Chinese - the 'Rider' smacks of the Mongol war pony unit!

hmmm well the Mongols were a nomad tribe which means they moved around alot, not really any time to build cities but it would still be nice to have them as a civ, say an expansionist, militaristic civ, they could easily replace the Zulu's.

Take the Chineese Rider, add 1 attack, remove 1 defence, and add blitz. Congrats, you have now built the Mongolian Mounted Archer

The Mongols perfected the horse-mounted archer, which was adapted from their hunting style. They could shoot accurately while at a full gallop, and corraled their enemies like game animals.

well when i saw for first time in civ 2 that there was exsist the Mongols i said "am isee right the mongols are in civilization 2? " perhaps it could be perfect to a game with a name like "the fight of barbarians" but no way to civilization.
Civilization is my best game and in my whole life i never took them and play always i have them opponets and they never surpised me i must say.
To many attention for a people who conquered the half asia and after thedeath of their leader the empire split in pieces and the most importand they didint give anythink in those years to the civilization.
When the other civilizations founded scienses and arts the horse progress in fight i dont think that its a sign of civilization. Always the attack weapons in ancient years came from hordes and after the peacefull countries take them to their culture for example the hindoeuropeans with the Fe..
