This could be one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. I mean, I'm used to Monty Python randomness, but this as out there, even by their standards. Like, what was that part where they looked for the fish? Its like they went to a weird costume store and bought the first things they saw.

I found the beginning the funniest. First there was the birth scene, and then there was "Every Sperm is Sacred" (I can laugh at my own religion you know :p). In fact I actually laughed harder at how they mocked Protestantism rather than the Catholic jokes. I just found them more insightful. "So we can have sex whenever we want, but those Catholics think that every time they have sex they must have a child!" "But we have two children...and we've had sex two times." "Yeah well I COULD go out and by a condom right now!"

The rest of the money was pretty funny too. Its all pretty insightful, if offensive, humor. My mom asked me how it was and I struggled to find a joke I could repeat.

So, has anyone else seen it? Did you like it? I noticed someone had the "God, you are so big" in their sig, I forget who...

Like all of Python, deliciously funny absurdist strangeness. One is particularly fond of live organ transplants.

I also liked the Really Big Corporation of America.

"The first order of buisness: Why don't we own more stuff?"

BTW when there was that whole short film at the beginning I wasn't sure if it was real. I mean Monty Python has had fake films in the beginning of their movies, but this one lasted 15 minutes. :crazyeye:

True Gilliam anarchy. Best taken in overabundance, in a darkened room, dressed as a gumby, with the Goons and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band playing in the background, young Rawlinson.

I didn't like it, like all of the other Monty Python's.

I'm not relegious in the least, but I thought the movie was pretty stupid, defiantly the first part. (the birth and all)

You're probably just not a Monty Python fan by nature. Especially if you didn't find the birth scene funny, I think that was the most typically Python scene in hte movie.

Must not be, I normally don't like "sexual" humor. My choice's for funny movies would be more like Pirates of te Caribbean.

The birth scene is a classic!

First Doctor: Bit bare in here today. isn't it?

Second Doctor: Yeees.

First Doctor: More apparatus please, nurse.

Nurse: Yes doctor.

First Doctor: Yes, the EEG, the BP monitor and the AVV, please.

Second Doctor: And get the machine that goes 'Ping'!

First Doctor: And get the most expensive machines in case the
administrator comes.

[Apparatus starts pouring into the room. The mother is
lost behind various bits of equipment.]

First Doctor: That's better, that's much better.

First Doctor: Still something missing, though. [They think hard for
a few moments.]

First and Second Doctors: Patient?

Second Doctor: Where's the patient?

First Doctor: Anyone seen the patient?

Second Doctor: Patient!

Nurse: Ah, here she is.

....

First Doctor: Hallo! Now, don't you worry.

Second Doctor: We'll soon have you cured.

....

Administrator: Very impressive. What are you doing this morning?

First Doctor: It's a birth.

Administrator: And what sort of thing is that?

Second Doctor: Well, that's when we take a new baby out of a lady's
tummy.

Administrator: Administrator: Wonderful what we can do nowadays. Ah! I see you
have the machine that goes 'Ping'. This is my favourite. You
see we lease this back to the company we sold it to. That
way it comes under the monthly current budget and not the
capital account. [They all applaud.] Thank you, thank you. We
try to do our best. Well, do carry on.

....

First and Second Doctors: Lights! Amplify the ping machine. Masks
up! Suction! Eyes down for a full house! Here it comes!

[The baby arrives.]

First Doctor: And frighten it!

[They grab the baby, hold it upside down, slap it, poke
tubes up its nose, hose it with cold water. Then the baby
is placed on a wooden chopping block and the umbilicus
severed with a chopper.]

And the rough towels!

[It is dried with rough towels.]

Show it to the mother.

[It is shown to the mother.]

First and Second Doctors: That's enough! Right. Sedate her!

As I said, I thought it was pretty stupid. Not in the one bit funny. Of course, you can have your "humor" in anyway you prefer ;).

"You Americans always talk and your talk. You say 'Let me tell you this' and 'I just wanna say'. Well your DEAD now so shut up!!"

Give or take a few words that is.

Oh and ".....so I became a waiter....well I know it's not much...it's my philosophy.....well F you! I can live my own life..don't you be following me no more"

"It's only waffer thin"

Actually 70 - 80% of Python was turgid rubbish. It is just that the remainder was such pure genius that they are still remembered.

To quote the Not the Nine Oclock News Python is God sketch, "... and remember, Python died for us. Frequently."

That movie was pure comedy. There are so many funny scenes I don't know where to start.

"Garcon, fetch monsiour a bucket!"

The song and dance number "It's Christmas in Heaven" was one of the few times I literally fell out of my chair laughing. (Another was the UFO scene in Life of Brian).

Thank you. It is very big of you to allow us this precious bit of resource to discuss this bit of trite and unsophisticated humour. Thank you. your are really very generous.

It's a monty classic! I like the death scene and the song at the very end when Eric Idle(?) walks out of the fridge and starts singing.

Thoug the Holy grail is my fav.

absolutely hilarious, some amazing scenes. The sperm song is pure genius.

"Whole leg gone, eh? Yes...yes...not to worry, there's a lot of it about."

"We found the the tiger skin in a bicycle shop in Cairo...We only wanted to take it down to Dar Es Salaam..."

I found that to be the worst scene in the whole movie. Sorry, but projectile vomitting doesn't really make me laugh, it seems a little low-brow. (Not that I'm some kind of high-brow humor snob or anything, but it seemed dull and pointless to me.)

I also laughed at the sex education scene alot. I found it hilarious how they discuss sex in the exact OPPOSITE way real teachers do, but they use the same kind of language and mannerisms real teachers have. "Now there is no need to go stampeding to the ..."

I didn't really mean it in that way. I meant it as in a "What you think is funny might not always be what I think is funny" kind of way. Ok, I think I prolly just confused about... well... everyone.
