You're the science leader of the game on the current map?! That cannot be! Who are you and what have you done with MONTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my years of playing Civ series, Monty has never been the one leading in science.
But from what I'm catching in glimpses of his empire while exploring with caravel.
He had a successful war with Ottomans, Created several large oversea colonies.. but he just got dow'd on by Washington. I"ll find out what happens later. xD

:crazyeye:

There's been a thread called 'Have you ever seen a successful Montezuma?', or something to that effect. You should post this there.

He may not do it often, but you can have a bad day when he builds an empire like this.

Maybe he got river\lake start so his cities grow insanely cuz of UB?

Plus if he completed Honor and had big fights, he probably hoard lot of culture?

Ps. Could never figure out how Approval exactly works? I am usually at the bottom of that. Maybe because I keep refusing to give AI terrible deals the propose, refuse to give open boarders and refuse to give them 90% of the gold or gpt I have because "things are not going well over there"?

Monty beat me to a spaceship in my second deity game by about two turns. We were neck and neck in tech at the end, but he had a huge empire and got to the last spaceship tech slightly before me. Nobody else in the game was all that close to us in the space race.

I've been in a couple games where he either hyper expands early through conquest or settles down and grows a nice tall empire. More often than not though, his early aggression costs him dearly and he gets crippled or eliminated.

Approval is dependent on how much happiness you have in surplus and how often you have been happy for how many turns.

Wallow in unhappy and your approval will fall through the floor.

And to answer your question.... Monty's capital site is next to river and all plains so I'm guessing his capital used to be all jungle. There's farms everywhere.

Heerlo I was waiting for you to say something :D

Just to add this on: The percentage is calculated by a pretty simple formula.

Approval = 60% + (3 * excess :c5happy:)

0 Excess :c5happy: is a 60% approval
12 :c5happy: or higher is 100% approval
20 :c5unhappy: or lower is 0% approval

Thanks Callonia and Furret. Then no wonders I am always bottom Approval, I always struggle with happiness on Deity. I avoid dropping into negative, but it's not like I have 50 happiness, maybe until Industrial era kicks in (Freedom\Order, both being huge happiness buffs)

I had a game a few months ago where freaking Attila was a peace-mongering culture giant and Wonder whore. That must have been a very extreme point on his possible personality range.

That's weird, he only had a small Capital in my last game, and nothing else for more than 300 turns until I ran it over.

He actually seemed to be peaceful for the entire game and didn't even get pissy when I prophet nuked him. Piety and Aesthetics.. I could've sworn I still saw jaguars strutting around at turn 250..

He's definitely lost his touch for a bit.

A update for you guys! The game is still in progression but the world is came to life and alot alot of things is happening everywhere.

Monty is order, but there's a communist bloc with a lone autocracy in it dogpiling the Monty.

Its basically Monty vs Usa, Ottomans, China, Spain, Maya.
Despite the dogpile, Monty somehow did great and made the ottomans capitulate and hand over a city to Monty.

And a turn later, Monty is clearly taking one hell of a pounding because they used to have bigger army than me.

Then bunch of turns later, Monty started to take city by city by city until USA is reduced to just two cities left and the war is still ongoing. Its so rare to see monty doing so great, and he's getting dogpiled!

Then Assyria.... He's having one hell of a hard time battling me and Persia and Sweden, us three tiny guys is basically taking turns punching him again and again and again. So he's forced to waste several turns relocating his armies to do battle against a new enemy as the last one agree to temporary ceasefire. But Persia and Sweden have a ongoing feud from ancient era, persia lost a city to Sweden though then Sweden lost a city to Assyria.

So about when I was going to dow Assyria to relieve the pressure off Sweden and attract all the bombers back on my soldiers again. And I saw this.

Friendly? even when we fought three wars? Oh no problem kewl.

Oh lawl.

Me and Sweden is Autocracy. Everyone went Order including Gandhi. Yes i know.

And Mayans went Freedom.

Then finally Austria went Autocracy but became friends with the huge Order bloc trying to murder Monty despite monty going Order and aztec citizens want autocracy xD Only 10% of them though :P

Assyria and Persia is order too.

I suspect Austria is attempting an Cult of Personality win for Culture by buddying up with Every single Order player except for ones getting dogpiled aka monty then her grand plan is to become influential then proceed to kill the lone Freedom player in the middle of order bloc aka maya.

And finally, Kill me and Sweden.

ME. Yeah she hates me. Who is the BIGGEST obstacle for an AI. xD

Okay taht's the update for today. Gonan continue now. And aonther update tomorrow for Monty's progression.

edit: eeps i forgot, Morocco is eating India, India is down at one city left I think that I know of. And Morocco went order.

You know, you could start a story of this in Stories and Let's Plays, if you wanted to. My story-where my above Monty picture came from-actually began in a similar way as this.

I am so glad that you're getting so much kicks and action from this game.

Last 10 of mine have been quite boring, either no war at all or some here and there (usual AI attack, sue for peace 10 turns later) and most of the wars I've been involved in were me attacking AI. :D

alto, I started Japan game and my neighobours are Rome and Persia, with Rome already expending toward me (once city exactly four titles away from my capital)

btw, Glad to see Monthy doing great. That's a rare thing. He usually gets chewed by other civs because his ancient\classical era hyper-aggression where he (most of the time) doesn't do anything useful to expend his empire, just wastes resources and time to build up army of jags\archers then gets shredded because he decides to attack AI on the other side of the map. xD
