Hello everyone, I've been a fan of Master of Orion II for a good long while now and have clocked in probably way too much time playing the game. One thing that has perplexed me, however. Has anyone ever managed to get the Galactic Council to vote them Emperor? Its supposed to be one of the win conditions, but I've never managed to pull it off. I've come damn close a few times, but still never quite gotten the grand prize.

Is there any particular trick to making this aspect of the game work for you?

I am not sure about it, but my memory of the vote is that it was not suppose to be a way to win. I just looked up my guide and it says the Council is perfunctory. Actually it say it is history. It still leads to total war to refuse the vote, but the game does not end with a vote.

That used to be the ONLY way I could win when I first started playing (it was also easy, so take that with a grain of salt). Normally, if you're going to win via the Galactic Council, you have to either control more systems than everybody else put together and vote for yourself, or you need to remain a rivaling dominant power and constantly trade/maintain your alliances. Play as the Silicoids picture and don't use the repulsive trait for your best chances.
