Hey, I was going over the SSs at ING, and it hit me! When stuff happends you really have no say in how 'your' nation reacts!!! Like when you stop a spy in you're lands, I think you should be able to;
1. Declare war on (spy owner) without any penalty.
2. Demand payment for hostile acts aganist your nation.
3. Send the spy back unhurt (+ :) with owner of spy)
4. Cut his head off and show it to the world.

And when a random event happends like, An artist in frozen tundra near Thebes has perfected a means of crafting beautiful ice sculptures. http://media.pc.ign.com/media/896/896712/img_4643233.html

You should be able to;
1. Do and Say nothing.
2. Force him into the army(or something like that)
3. Ask him to join the army(or something)
4. Have him killed.
5. Shut him up.

Or a blacksmith who has overseen the expansion and upgrade of a forge to increase its efficiency. http://media.pc.ign.com/media/896/896712/img_4643233.html

You should be able to;
1. Grant him a(Something)
2. Do and Say nothing.
3. Have him killed.
4. Shut him up.
5. Force him to train your men in the army(Or something)
6. Force him into the army(Or something)
7.8. Ask him to do one of the two above.

Or when a industrial heiress has received a marriage proposal from one of our prominent business tycoons their jewish wedding will occur this year.

You should be able to;
1. Stop it.
2. Have them killed.
3. Say bad stuff about it(Lots of bad stuff)
4. Do nothing.

...
You get the pic, I don't like it how you are the leader of your nation and have little power over it. What do you think?

This seems like a good idea to me, more choices and effects is always good.

Maybe the XML tags will allow something like this...
This makes me wonder just how the tags XML will be handled. They say that there are parameters that effect what event you get, like that ice artist appearing on tundra. I wonder how many different parameters are open in the XML, will you be able to make events that happen when you declare war? Have thousands of units? Total culture? Move a unit into a certain type of tile? This looks like this could be fun to play around with.

Hopefully your multiple choice idea will be able to be moddable in the XML.

Thanks, but I think they should add it to the game!!! They should they should!
Oh and also, their should be up sides AND downsides to the decisions you make,
Like, let's say, When a industrial heiress has received a marriage proposal from one of our prominent business tycoons their jewish wedding will occur this year.
If you pick to announce a national celebration, and send an outlandish wedding gift and donate generously to religious organizations in the name of the newlyweds, then aside from the good relations you get you should lose something, like maybe, 50% chance that hannibal will like it and 40 that he won't, and 10 that he'll stop it somehow, and maybe even lose... I don't know, SOMETHING,

So, that it's not like, "Duh! What do you 'think' i'm gonna pick? Just it the best one"
Instead it will be like, "Hmm... If I go with that one, then 'that' will happend, but if I pick this one, 'this' will happend.

Giving it a less automatic level of gameplay... Firaxis?

I would also like to say events such as;
1. Mass shoting at Zimbabwe Tech University. What shell you do?
A. Nothing! I have more pressing matters.
A. Give a speech to the people.
A. Give a speech to the people and have a day of moaning for the dead.
A. Give a speech to the people, have a day of moaning and send suport funds.

2. Dam in New york breaks and floods nearby areas. Deaths have been report and dozens are now homeless. What shell you do?
A. Nothing! I have a nation to run! Get the DAMN MAYOR!
A. Give a speech to the people.
A.A.A .... Blah, blah, you get the pic
A. Call in sick :D

You know stuff like that that call for the leader of the nation! I mean you're people are counting on you... 1... 2... 3... lol
:D

So sorry for the double post, I'll try to remember the most basic and most duh! rule ever.

...
No love for the random events? No one cares about them? :(

Play Europa Universalis or Victoria, they get to this kind of complexity. I love it, but some hate it.

There is something to be said for simplicity over detail, but I do love Victoria and it's murderous difficulity curve.

It's won't make the game any more complex, just takes away the automatic picking that would take place with the events. Right now it's like just every now and then you get something good happend to you, and it doesn't really take much thinking(Duh, i'm going with the best one! why the hack not?)
See, my idea would just make them a little more of a event that calls for your attention.

I mean, right now, their suppose to challenge you, but from what I saw, thats just what they'll NOT do. With my idea they would like their suppose to!

Anyone else? over 200 views but only 7 replies? Come on people! Have your say... please?
