This is just a thread I'd like to use to keep track of the progress of a series of mods I will be working on, listing the content I wish to add, the changes I wish to make, and how far along the mod is from completion. Since I can't sleep because I've had this idea stuck in my head all night, I figured, why not
As much as I love Civilization V, I have been dying to add more content, but my biggest setback is a lack of unit graphics to do so. I'd even consider "hiring" people from the site to design said graphics, but enough babbling, here is what I'm hoping to accomplish with the More Stuff Mod(s):
Tweaks & Ideas
One of the major changes I'd like to make is a decent overhaul of how the navies work for each era. Specifically, I want to have at least one type of vessel for each era that requires no resources (or a very small amount of an older resource) to build, while the more powerful warships require greater quantities or rarer resources. An example of this, I'd like to add a Modern Frigate to the game for the modern era which requires 2 iron to build and change the destroyer so that it requires 1 oil, and change the battleship to require 2 oil. I'd also like to increase the power of both of the more advanced vessels to make them more useful and more important to protect.
Additionally, for the renaissance era, I would like to make a new unit called the Sloop of War, which requires no resources to build but isn't overly powerful. Next in line would be the Brig, which would probably require 1 iron to build and lastly make the frigate require 2 iron to build. I'd even like to consider adding an Ironsided Frigate which would require 3 or 4 iron to build, be much more immune to attack from other ships of its era, but be a little slower and much more expensive as well. I think this would add some interesting flavor to the game, for if civilization A lacks coal to produce ironclads (which I also aim to improve/expand upon), their navy might still be able to contend with a small ironclad fleet, albeit modestly. The same would go for modern nations. In several games I've played so far, I've come across really small AI civs either beaten down by war or restricted heavily by their geography. I'd like to see these civilizations behave in a naval sense like smaller, less fortunate nations in our time do. Chances are their fleet would consist mostly of modern frigates and the occasional destroyer if they are fortunate enough to come across any oil.
There is more I'd like to add to this mod but so far the navy is the focus. I plan on updating this fairly regularly as new ideas come to me, so stay tuned

More Renaissance Stuff
Sloop of War - Basic renaissance naval vessel, requiring no resources to build, low power.
Brig - Medium strength renaissance warship, requiring 1 iron to build.
The frigate and English replacement will both be buffed slightly and possibly require more iron to build.
May possible add ironsided frigate.
More Industrial Stuff
Battlecruiser - A medium strength industrial era warship, nearly comparable to a battleship in offense but with the defense of a cruiser, 2 oil.
Cruiser - A medium strength industrial era combat vessel, between a destroyer and battlecruiser in strength, 2 oil.
Frigate (modern) - Basic modern era warship, low attack power and range, 2 iron.
PT Boat - A basic, cheap vessel with a focus on anti-submarine warfare; poor man's destroyer, 1 iron.
The ironclad would most likely end up becoming the "basic" early Industrial era warship and require 1 coal like it does in vanilla Civ V. Ironclad will also likely be changed to function more like an ironclad warship/cruiser rather than the coastal only variant. Gunboat diplomacy anyone? It'd be upgraded to a destroyer, so any civ without oil would be forced to maintain their ironclad fleet in addition to producing a PT Boat/Modern Frigate fleet for flavor.
The submarine will probably be tweaked a little as well to behave like a WWII era submarine.
The battleship and destroyer will both receive moderate buffs to make them more tempting for nations with oil.
The carrier may be nerfed a little in defense so that it is more vulnerable to torpedos, requiring it to be more properly defended.
More Modern Stuff
Attack Submarine - A modern submarine, capable of longer range attacks with greater speed and firepower, 2 oil.
The Nuclear Submarine will most likely be changed to run on uranium as expected.
