Most Challenging Maps?

I last played CiV a while back, when Inca was new... What is considered the most challenging map? I found continents the most, esp. when they both have tiny land bridges (conquest)...

What do you tyhink the hardest map type is?
 
Probably Continents Plus, because the city state placement makes many early strategies harder to execute. But of the 'standard' maps, I find Continents the most difficult, mainly because there is almost always at least one runaway civ.
 
I found that Ring with a dense Forestation gives the AI a big research boost, I don't know how, but they got through the tree quicker and I kinda fallen behind even on Chieftain! (but then, again, that could be simply because I still automated my workers back then).

Rings is hard. Even on a level that I'm mostly familiar with, the AI is still able to go runaway on me with ease. It doesn't help that the long distances between your core cities and your conquests makes for killing maintenance costs.

Cities don't have maintenance costs anymore, so the distance between them is irrelevant.

Oh, I guess you mean road upkeep costs . . .
 
I have found the plains and lakes maps to be the most difficult, since you are always in the middle no matter where you start (the map loops) and it is unlikely you will have a good defensive position. Plus, the AI has an easier time with combat when there is mostly open terrain (plains map). The AI is normally super aggressive on these maps since there is very little space between civs.
 
Of the standard maps, I'd say Pangea is the hardest, in no small part because you can't exploit the AI's utter incompetence when it comes to naval combat and landings.

Yes I agree, it can really be a multifront war in those games.

I find a Dual highlands map with small lakes and Inca and Aztec as your enemies very hard. You're likely to have a good defensive position but the limited space always leads to war. And they will have the advantage.
