I seem to have the worst luck against Catherine. At least with Montezuma (and other warmongers) you know what you're getting. It might change your desired strategy, but you know war is probably coming early. With Catherine, she always seems to find a way to be the thorn in my side.

Isabella is always a pain. She hates you if you don't share her religion and she always seems to declare war. The only game that I didn't have a problem with her was when we shared a continent. I Quechua rushed her butt.

I find Louis XIV to be a warmonger who makes annoying diplomacy demands.

Montezuma and Isabella seem to be the overriding favorites here. My take is for Isabella. Montezuma is easily defeated each time he attacks but Isabella is much more difficult for me. She is usually more advanced than Monty and her units have more promotions.

Mansu Musa (sp?) is my most hated of the Civ leaders. He has been in every game I have played (7+) and annoys me to no end. He hasn't done anything to deserve this really, he is never a challenge and he can be bullied into giving you everything he has. Yet I have always found a reason that he needs to be decimated.

The leaders that give me the hardest time so far have been Kubla Kahn and Catherine. They usually have large empires w/ a good military and decent techs.

Isabella is just annoying. She makes constant requests in diplomacy and usually ends up declaring war. She always ends up being wiped out. In my last game she was dogpiled by 4 of the 8 civs on the map.

I hate Huayna Capac. Even after he has been decimated he still sends his pilfering little army to be a pain in my butt. If I see him anywhere near by I begin an eradication process immediately.

Nice to see all the responses. It's also interesting how some AI's have patterns, but others sre different every time.

Ditto for Isabella. If I see her nearby, I will usually prep to attack her before she gets 'Guilds'. I lost to her UU in a previous game, not making that mistake again.

i really can't stand Huayna Capac. it seems he is always near my civ, and he is just plain ugly. Every game sooner or later i have to kick is ass.

monte is very annoying too... Tokugawa can't be trusted.

A lot of people seem to hate Izzy. She may be my favorite AI to have in the game. That's because she's so simple to understand. You either have her religion (and she loves you) or you don't (and she'll be coming after you sooner or later.) If I convert to Isabella's religion, I'll have a +10 modifier before the game is up. Last time I tried it, I think I had her declare about 6 wars for me. I'd have Isabella declare war on a civ, wait about 5 turns until that civ had sent its stacks after Izzy, then declare and send in my own. And since she was always fighting my wars for me, she was always behind technologically, giving me currency to buy her into the next war.

I think Monte might be my current most hated Civ, although I'm always happy when he attacks me in the ancient age. He always sends in a stack of those silly jaguars (might just be the worst UU in the game) that my axes can chew up.

my first few games Caesar was driving me nuts

but since then i've learned the truth.....Montezuma will never be happy...ever

from now on in all my games, if i find him...i'll put all my energy into eradicating him...if i lose the game to other civs because of it, well so be it....but the aztec threat must be silenced!!

I really don't mind having the warmongering AIs start near me. If they want a war then they can gladly have one. It's the more peaceful ones I don't particularly like, mainly Mansa and Gandhi, because by the time you've extened you're empire enough to make attacking worth while they either have a tech lead, or they hate you for declaring war on their friends and refuse to trade techs with you

For me its probably Asoka...just don't like the look of him, plus he always seems to make entirely unfair trade proposals. Its not downright hate, but everytime he calls up, I think "What, again!"

I can't stand Catherine, not for any gameplay reason as none have really stood out as being more annoying than another but because she slaps you during trade. I consider this completely out of character for Civ and for leaders in general.

she doesn't only slap during trade ;-)
