Looking at the tech tree and knowing how important religion is unless you choose a country which starts with mysticism it seems that AI will always beat you to the early two. I suspect in most sp games players will end up getting the tech for jews or toaist

Most spirtual civs start with mysticism, which is the prerequisite for Meditation(Buddhism) and Polytheism(Hinduism)
