mouse pointer disappears

after installing the game (and some extra finnagling with directx) and updating my video driver, the game finally works, but after i get into the actual game(past picking singleplayer and whatnot) my mouse pointer disappears...I alt tab out and its still gone, if i turn on mouse pointer trails, I can still see it, though in civ4 its hard to see...any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. Nobody on this board seems to care about this at all, but I would really like a solution to it. I have to hard-boot the computer to get the cursor to come back. Its a real pain.
