Is there a way to move a large number of units with just 1 or 2 mouse clicks instead of having to select and move each one separately?

I know about stacking, but that still requires each unit to be selected and moved individually to create and break up the stack.

In a RT game I can lasso a group and then click on a destination and they will all move to that area.

in vanilla you can't move stacks, you must move 1 at a time. In c3c you can move whole stacks with 1 key, and I'm not sure about PTW.

The shortcut keys can be found:

I always had problems using the stack commands in vanilla, though. Very tedious work. I don't know about the Ctrl-J for a type of unit move, I didn't see that on the shortcut list, but maybe I just overlooked it.

In vanilla, you can order a whole stack to move and the whole stack will move even those who have to wait a turn. (all movement used up) But I think you can only move units of one type with the j key. I've had C3C for a couple of years now so I can't exactly remember the details.

I just remember using the J move in my first C3C game and my whole garrison moved out of the city that was under major attack by AI. it blew my mind.
