Moving less than 50 of something at a time

Is it possible to move less than 50 of a certain good at a time? It gets quite annoying while trying to spread horses around to have to wait until there a enough horses over 50 so that you can move on to the next settlement.

I haven't played Colonization in a long time, though, so that might not be right.

You can do this by using wagons (or ships). Click on the goods and move them to the wagon while holding down the shift key and you are asked to key in the amount.
