Mulcarn vs Agares?

Sometimes yes ;) I am not really into spending too much time on a game that makes me want to put a fist in my monitor ya know got kids so my time is in short supply. I just really found out about the spell and have never gotten that mana to level 3. I tend to be a builder and defend my cities with my heros, so they do last longer. Heck look at my join date and number of posts. Kinda a lurker until recently :) (addition: Humm actually I was a member when the civfanatics first started I just dont remember my screen name at the time I wonder if they kept it and its just sitting their unused or do they purge em.)

I know Mulcarn is the least "evil" of the evil gods (thanks MC), and Agares is the Strongest. Oddly enough he could be the one to actually save creation from Agares. Mulcarn is the only one that seems to want to control it for his own use. Agares basically wants it destroyed, with Hyborem being his agent bringing the age of despair.

Which would bring me to another question... Is Armageddon the end of the Age of Rebirth and the beginning of the Age of Despair? And who coined the term "Age of Despair"? (IIRC it was a Mod Moder)

The Age of Despair was proposed by Moon Hunter.

I've referred to the Age of Despair in a couple of 'pedia entries in FF - it's definitely a point in which FF is departing from FfH canon. By the looks of it - Mulcarn is going to be reborn during the Age of Rebirth and restore the Age of Ice in FfH. I have a vague plan for a FF armageddon scenario in which both Mulcarn and Agares move into their "end-game" and the fate of the world is decided by a showdown between Auric Ascended and Taranis, against Hyborem, Bhall and Agares, with Basium and the Bannor/Elohim stuck in the middle.

If I can pull it off, all three teams are planned to be playable (which will be a balancing nightmare).

That's for later though.

I'm just teasing, but I used to say, "well, there was only a 5% chance, why let the ai kill my hero/high level unit/whatever on a fluke?" and reload. Now I say, "Hmm, how am I going to deal with this challenge?" It's a bit more fun, just imo.

Well now that I am aware of the resurrection spell I may have to do just that... :)

With the Res spell I actually look forward to killing off my hero units. First, it lets me re-level them with City Raider and the other "unlocked" promotions since I now have futher tech knowledge. And second, I can have the Shrine of the Champion to make my basic units stronger.

No, you get a new copy of the unit, with no xp or purchased promotions. You can however choose different promotions that you did the first time around once they gain enough xp. In the case of arcane heroes, they will start with the free sphere promotions based on the mana you own.

Arcane wouldn't start with the free promotions since they aren't being built. But most all Hero units have the Hero promotion, so you'll get back up to 100 XP for free, and generally anything past 100 isn't TOO important.

Are you sure of that?

The free promotions are now given in def onUnitCreated(self, argsList), not def onUnitBuilt(self, argsList). It was switched when Kael decided to make arcane units be able to get the free promotions upon upgrading.

I've know I've seen summoned Djinni (in my version they are UNITCOMBAT_ADEPT and have channeling I & II) get free promotions based on mana, and I'm pretty sure that in my last Sheaim Fall Further game the Imps spawned from Brandaline's Well started with Entropy I for free when I had enough entropy mana. Mobius Witches also get the free spheres based on the mana you own in addition to their random promotions. (They would probably be much better if they didn't get any random promotions but also didn't start with levels or xp, and even better still if they started with the same AC-based xp that I convinced Vehem to give other planar gate units.)
