Multi-colored tiles

I saved my game at turn 277, all was fine. When I came back, 2 of my cities were starving and had the red icon on the right side...OK, but then all my tiles turned pink, blue, purple, white. I can still make out the shapes of my ships, and see the outline of my cities, but it is too difficult to play without being under the influence of acid (yes, I am THAT old, and no, I have not tried to play it that way LOL).

I played a few turns, just clicking thru, saved it and reloaded. Same problem.

I clicked on a saved game prior to that, same problem. It was not present at that stage of the game previously.

I clicked and started the save at the beginning, turn 1, same problem.

Started a brand new game, same problem.

What have I done and what can I do to smack it back to normal?

I am running Windows XP, 2 GeForce GTS 250 video cards, 4GB RAM (can only use 3GB with XP I think), DirectX9, Dell XPS system.

Are other games still working normally? In addition you might want to test your video cards with FurMark, and you could try using only one card.

Other Games work fine. Only Civ is Fubar.

Did you try the other games afterwards? Because it might be, that right now something got broken in your PC.
And how long (time i mean) did it take for you to get to 277?

I have played other games after this problem. I rectified it by going from the dual card set up to SLI.

I cannot really say how long it took me, maybe 12-15 hours game play? I toggle out of game and do work or exit and play another game.

I am playing the Dominance only way to win, with Huge continents, and am now at turn 441 and a NEW problem surfaced. I am here on the boards now researching it.

When the game completes its turn, it crashes to desktop. I restart it, it completes its moves and before I complete my last one I save it again. It completes its move, CTD again. I have repeated that cycle 5 times, each moving one turn, then crash.

It's always something...
