Multi-session G&K game (GMT+12 @ 8PM)

Sounds good to me. I'll fire it up in the world builder to have a look, too.

Last night I picked polynesia on Ancient Lakes so I could find the 'mystery' at the centre. It's the same map every time, and as player 1 I've started in the same spot every time. It's a huge map, tho you can only play it on 'small'. Might be fun to use one day.

Off topic: you can buy university for 140g, chop 1-2 forest for Oxford, and get to see the world in turn 2:) I don't know how to get world builder, so that's how I did.

Google civ 5 SDK if you want it; it's under tools or something on Steam.

But your way is probably better, cause it just shows you the map, not civ or CS start locations.

Email notifications tell all, editing is futile!

He had protested, wanted epic speed, said how about standard as a compromise, thinking no one else had expressed a preference, then I suppose realised a couple other player had expressed a preference for quick, or just decided he was new and shouldn't be making waves...not sure.

All just speculation, really, and not of terribly much interest, unless you make it mysterious by not saying what it was. :p

DOh! :cringe:

This is pretty much unnecessary by now seeing as it's obvious we'll be playing a Quick FFA Lakes game, but I'm a perfectionist so had to add up the extra votes

The only thing to note is that Small has the most votes, however EEE has pointed out that this may be too small for 6 players, so map size may still change.

Summary:
Speed: Quick(4); Epic(1); Abstain(1)
Size: Small(4); Standard(1); Abstain(1)
Map: Lakes(4); Continents(1); Shuffle(1)
Type: FFA(4), Abstain(2)
Players: Onan, EEE_BOY, Foffaren, Heinage, JakeAlmighty, Islandia

Hey Heinage, I'm not sure if anyone has you on their friend's list yet. Same Steam name?

Others seem to have less trouble than me finding people on Steam...but just in case, the civplayers lobby / chat room can be an easy place to meet up.

Islandia seems to be unique, as well.

I think I will play Maya, got practiced a strategy last night, would like to see how it is doing in MP

yep, Heinage is my steam name. I already have you and EEE in my friends list. Will try find the others now. We're all go in about 4 hours right?

Current game:

Islandia - Aztecs
Onan - England
Jake - France
EEE - Maya
Foffaren - Sweden
Heinage - Russia

All picks except for mine and Islandia's. Map is small oval low sea level, abundant resources.

We had a period of peaceful development, where the French settled aggressively within five tiles of our capital. Then the armies began massing, and we were hard pressed to turn back the Norman Conquest. It was a very near thing. York nearly fell a couple of times. We also traded citadels; thankfully, this meant I got both. :)

I suspect this vicious and unprovoked attack was driven by fear of English innovation and competition. We intend to demonstrate that this fear was very well founded.

Russian expansion is encroaching on Stockholm. I'm not a big fan of it but so far its not a problem.
Mayan to the north with a strong religion and I've gladly adopted it.

Aztecs have the highest population in their occ if I remember correctly. I give him a few more turns before I've passed. Lots of food in my cap.

The Maya people have embarked a jounery to go culture victory in a crowded Oval world. Our capital is very close to the Monty's, but we use the liberty settler advantages to aggressively settled 2 cities towards the Monty, while leaving a mediocre site for the 4th city to the corner. We negotiated with Monty with a handful of archers ready, trying to reason to the Monty not thinking that as an aggression in the early game. The wise leader Monty surprisingly took our promise and went on his OCC mad growth and food wonder combo strategy.

4th policy goes to piety, which speed up the rest of the pyramids construction to guarantee the +1 artist slot belief was taken, followed by theology great prophet to enhance the religion. The dominance of our religion pays for the expensive culture and science buildings, which is hard to keep without SP AI cash. The timing was right to get 4 free opera houses, and a theology GE to rush the Sistine chapel. Oracle, TA and CI are hard built in the capital.

With the basic setup was done, Maya people was doing ok in relative stats, not far away from the tech leader, military strength was fluctuating in mid range and more cheap units are built occasionally for upgrade. The Maya people appreciated the understanding of the Aztec people to allow us the room to expand, we will guarantee NOT to backstab the Aztec even we are building up military, which are mostly used to deter any war intention by other civs.

Should any player intended to go domination victory, the Maya people are sitting in the corner as the last easy target to conquer. We merely served as a clock to measure how quickly one can rise to the great power or superior technological advance.

Is there a food victory condition? Because that is the one that mad Monty is going for. I would be very surprised if Sweden has more food in cap then Technoctitlan. There are very few special resources in that city - just flood plains.

Early barbarian invasion actually broke the city walls of Technoctitlan and the ensuing barbarian cleanup has left the Aztecs little time to expand. But at least we have one good city. Let's see if OCC beats cultural victory time condition!

Stockholm's expansion is encroaching on the motherland. As long as the Swedes show no aggression, our friendship remains steadfast.

Russia has maintained a large standing army, often at the expense of the economy and technological advancement.
The motherland's army has been given the sacred duties of safeguarding and preserving any territory that rightfully belongs to Mother Russia. With our superior production and endless supplies of strategic resources, we are placing our faith in strength of numbers.
If we have to throw 500 swordsmen at invading Giant Death Robots, we will throw 501 swordsmen at invading Giant Death Robots.

Sweden have no interest in expanding west. Our borders will not clash with russian borders apart from culture but we cant control that.

Not floodplains but grassland and a long ass river. Checked pop on demographics just before we quit. I belive aztec was up with about 500k. 20 min earlier we were in fifth place. I stopped building settlers and Stockholm started growing every 3 turns.
I think my other river/grassland cities might help with pop aswell. I dont doubt that Tenochtitlan is bigger.

Science victory is food victory
Diplomatic victory is money victory
Domination victory is hammer victory
Culture victory is ____victory
