Multi-session G&K game (GMT+12 @ 8PM)

Sweden have no interest in expanding west. Our borders will not clash with russian borders apart from culture but we cant control that.

Not floodplains but grassland and a long ass river. Checked pop on demographics just before we quit. I belive aztec was up with about 500k. 20 min earlier we were in fifth place. I stopped building settlers and Stockholm started growing every 3 turns.
I think my other river/grassland cities might help with pop aswell. I dont doubt that Tenochtitlan is bigger.

I just meant Technochtitlan is all flood plains and not much else so most tiles are 4 food tiles. I guess we'll find out next session!

Current game:

Islandia - Aztecs
Onan - England
Jake - France
EEE - Maya
Foffaren - Sweden
Heinage - Russia

All picks except for mine and Islandia's. Map is small oval low sea level, abundant resources.

We had a period of peaceful development, where the French settled aggressively within five tiles of our capital. Then the armies began massing, and we were hard pressed to turn back the Norman Conquest. It was a very near thing. York nearly fell a couple of times. We also traded citadels; thankfully, this meant I got both. :)

I suspect this vicious and unprovoked attack was driven by fear of English innovation and competition. We intend to demonstrate that this fear was very well founded.

You made it to longbows Onan you win now :(

The mass of hills between York and London shut down my ranged units harder than anticipated and our attack was a failure.

So despite France's recent place as #1 on demographics in all categories but happiness I fear we will soon be lost to the mighty LBs.

Last time I checked, England is No. 1 in military strength, perhaps the western side of the oval will become red.

What's good counter to LB? Knight?

Yup his army is now much larger than mine. Next session we find out if he can close but I think he will be able to - my position is weak in defense and I doubt he will allow my mounted units through his line to attack the LBs. But we shall see.

Perhaps giving up your border city that is within 5 tiles of London and concentrate your defense near Paris? A peace deal may not be impossible given Elizabeth may want to build some infrastructures to catch up the growing Aztec and Sweden. There is still some room for 1 city or 2 to expand.

Elizabeth would certainly entertain a peace offering involving the city of Tours (the close one on the cotton).

This time I will not be taken down with battleships. No coasts!
Refuse to make the same mistakes over and over. Well, exept for one. For some reason I always trust E even though he's the one who keeps making my life difficult. He has a pretty face. Damn you and your pretty face!

 I was about to build 6 ships to upgrade to frigates for coastal defense, guess I can do it with 3 now, given England is still in the game. But no coastal city might be overkill? As least capital is safe.

Although we can rely on the 'pretty face' to survive for a while, we will not fall to the victim of a surprise attack. Did we mention that Sweden got statue of Zeus and Great Wall? :mischief:

And a Weasly is a ginger. Whats your point? :p

I don't know the word weasel, so I googled it, what was your point?;) there seems to be many fictional or comic character named weasel, so I wonder what weasel means. (off-topic)

Sweden did get SoZ! Don't deny it, are you going full war mode when you reach your UU techs?

A weasel in a non-literal sense is...someone sneaky. Generally a negative connotation. :)

My point was that there was no point to any of it. ^^

If you dont stop with the lies then maybe I will. I'm pretty sure I can find someone willing to help me. Possibly someone that was locked in by your expansion and had to go OCC. But what do I know? I'm a completely honest and nice guy and would never lie.

When I saw the picture of weasel, I knew it must have negative meaning:D

Ok, I will take back my lies. The last thing I want to see is mass conflict when building the Utopia project.

Last note: I can leave 1 turn to finish Utopia project (if I didn't get killed by then) and continue to play to see if anyone got spaceship parts or domination. Basically multiple victories.

You assume that people will let you build utopia in the first place.
Russia is falling behind in tech but high in production. Lots of military there. I have alot of friendships going. Lots of GP. Aztecs might be peaceful until he falls behind aswell. And lastly, whoever wins the 100 years war on the other side will have a grand army and nothing to do with it.
I am convinced this game will end in a nuclear holocaust just like the last one. Its just a matter of getting there first.

Remember that Longbows do not have indirect fire like artillery. In the hilly terrain that you have around your cities, I doubt the longbows will be able to push forward on you without being exposed to knights attacking. If you survive to musketeers the balance of power remains.

My scout can't get into their land for further info, but he mentioned hill (not forest hill), so longbow sitting on top of the hill can shoot freely while the hill surrounding provides obstacle against enemy counter-attack.

Unless one side can overwhelm the other quickly and easily, continuing to fight will only slow down both while others build infrastructures.

Last game when Manhattan project finished, the game is reaching 270+ turns? if I remember correctly, without massive AI cash for RA that's the reasonable tech rate.

Culture victory does not depend on RA, so the goal is to get to Utopia project before 270T.

Remember with 5 artist slots, I can still run 2-3 scientists in every city without generating a Great Scientist, so my tech rate won't be bad that let me fall into an easy target can't defend my cities. Unless of course 3 civs gang up on me...

Longbows are not all powerful. They have limited line of sight and on top of that even a longbow on a hill can only fire over neighboring terrain. The terrain 2 tiles away can block LOS which means unless it is 2 tiles of desert, plains, or grasslands, the longbow can't easily get a shot off.
