Me and some friends were involved in a great multiplayer game of Civ 2. We had all built up really good empires and things were just starting to get good when the year 2020 hit and the game calculated our scores then dropped us out of the game.

I had never played a multiplayer game to this many years and I just figured it would give us the option to "continue playing without keeping score", but it doesnt do this in multiplayer.

I know many of you dont play past 2020 but Im hoping one of you can help. Are there any game files I can alter or are there any user made patches that I could download to allow Civ 2 to continue past 2020 in multiplayer games.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a utility that you can run and you can play single-player past 2020 if you save it puts you in 2021. I'm not sure it works for multi-player though(you can still keep score with it). I have attached it to this post.

Thanks for replying....I tried out the tool, it didnt quite work with multiplayer games. But it did show me a few things as to how Civ2 deals with saved game files and I was able to go in and manually change the year to 2021 and we can continue the game.

Our game will probably never end, but boy are we gonna have fun with it.

Me and my friends thank you very much!
