Multiplayer HELP - cant connect with Fr

Greetings
I have a problem. I cannot join a friend's games and he cannot join mine. We tried on theInternet and LAN options after clicking on multiplayer. We both see other games and he sometimes sees my game but drops immediately after joining. We tried typing I P but this also didnt work.
Note: We both have the same version of CIV3 conq but I am on windows7-he has vista

I have a similar issue. My brother and I can both see other games but neither of us can see games the other one hosts. We are both using vista, and we are both getting internet from the same wireless server.
