Multiplayer in Civ 4

I love the multiplayer aspect of Civ. I'm looking to get some info on how the multiplayer will be handled. How many players at one time? Will we be able host local servers at home? What types of games will there be? etc...etc...

I'm not sure we've had much info on that, except to say that mulitplayer will be in the original. I'm not a multiplayer player anyway, but I presume it will be similar to Civ3 multiplayer (in terms of different types of games etc). DOn't really know....

I really hope they change the maximum 8 player limit. I never play with more then 2 human players, but it's not cool to allways have to play medium maps, with just a handfull of AI's. It's to easy this game on small maps, and with few players!
