Multiplayer LAN issues

Hi all,

Trying to play multiplayer via a direct cable connection with my mate.

One of us is on XP and one of us is on Windows 7 (I don't think this is the issue though.)

Can't host a LAN game with either computer (stupid "can't set up messaging" error)

So tried to play over Direct IP - and surprise it won't connect.

Anyone one know what could be wrong :S

PS running Civilazation 4 uptated to 1.74

Managed to fix it by changing hosts, still confused as to why it was happening though.. lol
