Is it just me and my friends or is the AI just too easy in multiplayer.

My friend and I started a game last night on immortal and it felt like we were playing on prince difficulty or something.

What I don´t know is if we´d have to change the AI difficulty level to immortal as well. The AI were all set to prince (standard) and it seemed they didn´t get the extra starting units (at least). Don´t know about the other starting benefits.

When playing a singleplayer game you can´t change the AI difficulty - but in multiplayer you can. So do I have to change the AI to immortal as well?

I´ve been thinking that the AI difficulty level determines what they start with and how fast they develop. If this is true what does the player difficulty level mean?

This is something I've been wondering. The game does a poor job explaining how difficulty selection works in Multiplayer. Does turning up the difficulty level of AIs make it harder for them or easier? Who knows.

You definitely need to set the levels on the AI players to immortal as well.

I don't think the difficulty level on the player does anything for prince and above on multiplayer: below that it would give the bonuses (afaik including versus other players - so if you were on prince and your friend on settler, he would have a combat bonus against you as well). It might also set the difficulty for just the replacement AI for that player if he quits.

setting the human player difficulties gives you bonuses or maluses (like for your production and growth and science and stuff)
setting the AI difficulty gives the AI the bonuses stated before

however, what difficulty the "game" is defined as, is the difficulty you use for yourself. a.k.a. if you set yourself to deity and the AI to settler and you win that game you'd get the "God-Like" achievement. on the oter hand, if you set yourself to settler and beat a deity AI, you won't get the achievement.

So if you´re playing with a friend and you change the AI to say immortal and you play immortal and your friend is set on say king, the only difference between the two of you is when you fight against each other in a combat. Correct?

If you want to be challenged in MP....don't play against the AI play real players....feel free to come to Civplayers and discover the awesomeness of playing a game full of good players https://discord.gg/ubwTNdd

Nah, I prefer playing a game with some friends in a semi-coop fight against the AI :)

All I want to know is what happens if you play on the same level as the AI but a different level than one of your friends as stated above. Anyone?

We also play coop vs AI.

We usually form a team and then create 2 more AI teams of 2 and another few AI single without teams.

Human vs Human is only fun on small maps, short games (in our opinion) but we like the big maps :)

Big maps however create more desyncs as time go by so I hope firaxis will fix this after 2 years in a hotfix ASAP!
