If you have an additional Linux installation, I recommend "XV" for any picture related converting stuff. It's nice to play around with XV, it can take screenies, crop, resize images etc very easy. Among other implemented resizing methods, if your pic is anyhow quadratic, you can get it to 65x65 pixels directly (don't need a percentage based resizing factor). Then you could convert to various file formats... XV is just lovely.
