Hi

Sorry for troubling you (again). My (non-laptop) computer is in a strange condition. When I click the button, it turns on, but is really quiet, and nothing appears on the monitor, as if nothing was happening. Reseting, turning on and off doesn't work. It seems as if it couldn't wake up from hibernation or something.

What should I do?
Thank you for any help.

Bye

Are you getting a beep when you first power up? Have you disconnected the power from the source, and then plugged it in again, in case it is stuck in sleep mode?

I've disconnected the power from the source, but it didn't help at all.

I don't recall any beeps.

the monitor is plugged in, but, actually, it's sort of broken, there's something wrong with its power supply, and you have to put it in a right position to have it powered up. Yet, no matter if it's on or off, the computer behaves the same.

OK, when you turn it on are the fans in it starting to turn? Open up the case and see if any lights come on.

OK, thank you all for interest, but my mother (the computer was hers) has given it to service. Allegedly there's been a short circuit when my sister used a pent-drive, and it's destroyed the motherboard.
